Mari's Minute Dennis Warner & In Sync Productions, Inc. Present Mixed Martial Arts Recap \ Results May 3, 2007 San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino 777 San Manuel Blvd. Highland, California
Another great MMA event for Dennis Warner & In Sync Productions. San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino was the place to be Thursday night - Thousands of fans enjoyed seven fights full of action and some surprising wins. Notables in attendance included recent PXC winner Joe Camacho, referee extraordinaire Larry Landless and No Limits \ Team Oyama's Rob Emerson (TUF 5 fighter). Here is how all the action went down.
Mychal Clark wins by TKO (elbow \ strikes) at 1:48 of the first round over Mitch Fuller The fighters faced off and the night got underway - Clark connected with a low kick while Fuller pushed to go to the ground but Clark didn’t let him and connected with a knee. Fuller, pushing forward, tied up with Clark allowing Clark to push back and connect with a clean elbow to the chin - Fuller fell back onto the mat. Clark was able to land a couple more strong punches before the referee stepped in to stop the fight. Fuller needed to be taken out on a stretcher for further medical attention. We wish him well.
Fight 2 Alex Guitar wins by submission (guillotine choke) at :27 of the first round over Marcio Silva They tied up immediately - Guitar got a hold of the neck for a guillotine choke - Guitar is able to hold it tight giving Silva no choice but to tap out.
Fight 3 Umar Love wins a three round unanimous decision over Vaughn Lucas They touched gloves to initiate round one - Lucas is first to strike with a low kick while Love countered with strikes. Love got the take down and top position - Lucas was able to hold Love tight, preventing Love from striking at the beginning. Love was able to get some body shots in before the referee (Herb Dean) stood them up. While on their feet, Lucas was able to connect with a low kick that forced Love to roll back. Towards the end of the round, both connected with a couple of strikes. Round two started with an exchange of strikes - Love moved around a little more, allowing him to strike. Lucas was able to land a couple of good shots to Love’s face. In the middle of round, Love was able to drop Lucas and strike with kicks while Lucas was on his back. Lucas was able to get up and connect with a few good punches ending the round. The beginning of round three saw the two stand, exchanging punches. Love was able to once again take Lucas down - Love was able to connect with a couple of kicks while Lucas was on his back. On their feet again, another great exchange of strikes by both and a final punch by Lucas ended the final round with Love getting the decision.
Roman Mitichyan wins by knockout (knee) at :54 of the third round over Mike Robles They touched gloves - A low kick by Mitichyan is first to connect. After a couple of jabs from Robles, he goes for the take down but wasn’t able to get it. They stay tied up for a few seconds before Robles was able to take Mitichyan down. While on top, Robles connected with elbows and punches to the body ending round one. Round two saw Robles going for the take down again - Robles was unable to get it and while on their feet, Mitichyan connected with a strong punch - Robles was able to counter and get the take down. While on top, Robles once again connected with elbows and punches - Mitichyan was able to block a few and go for an arm bar but it wasn't even close. The round ends with Robles on top connecting with a few strikes. A slow start to round three - Robles was first to strike but no punches connected. Mitichyan went in and connected with a powerful knee that knocked Robles out cold. Great win for Mitichyan who was down on my scorecard - Mitichyan is now the new Middleweight Champion.
Fight 5 Wes Combs wins by TKO (strikes) at 1:03 of the first round over John George An exchange of punches started round one. George was able to connect with a couple of clean shots but Combs punches appeared to have more power. George punched and Combs countered with a series of strikes that took George back and to the ground. Combs was able to stay on him and connected with more punches to the face - The referee stepped in and stopped the punishment.
Giva Santana wins by submission (arm bar) at 1:45 of the first round over Aram Ghukasyan They tied up and go down to the ground - They grapple around and switch positions a couple of times. Ghukasyan was able to stay on top for a moment but Santana got a strong hold of an arm and got the arm bar submission - Ghukasyan appeared to have hurt his arm.
Fight 7 Malaipet MTA wins a three round unanimous decision over Rinat Myrzabekov They touched gloves and Myrzabekov immediately went for a round house high kick that whiffed. They tied up and went to the ground. Malaipet got a hold of Myrzabekov’s neck for a guillotine choke attempt but didn’t get it. The referee stood them back up and they go at it again - Myrzabekov mounts Malaipet and connected with a couple of strikes and was able to get Malaipet’s arm for the arm bar attempt - It appeared Myrzabekov had a strong grip and was going to get the win but Malaipet held on for the final seconds of the round. Malaipet smiled indicating he wasn’t hurt. Round two began and Malaipet was able to connect with some strong punches - Myrzabekov goes to the ground and Malaipet stayed standing and connected with kicks to Myrzabekov’s legs followed by a strong right punch that connected clean to the face. Malaipet’s low kicks appeared to have done damage to Myrzabekov’s legs as he limped away to his corner at the end of the round. A slow start to round three - A low kick from Malaipet dropped Myrzabekov to the floor and on his back. More kicks connected by Malaipet and finally Malaipet allowed Myrzabekov to stand back up. Once on their feet, Malaipet connected with a clean hook to the face that knocked Myrzabekov to the ground and on his back once again. After a few more kicks, the final bell rang - ending the round. Malaipet helped Myrzabekov up and to his corner as a sign of respect. Malaipet’s strong low kicks were impressive.
