Erik Olivares, Zaragoza, Macias, Pintor, Miguel A. Herrera, “Chiquita,”

Rodolfo Castillo, and Pedro Flores next November 25 in Puebla
 

The Government of the State of Puebla led by Governor Mario Marin Torres, in agreement with the World

Boxing Council, will celebrate a homage to several immortals of Mexican boxing among which we have Erik

Morales, Ruben Olivares, Daniel Zaragoza, Raul “Raton” Macias, Guadalupe Pintor, Miguel Angel

Gonzalez, Rafael Herrera, “Chiquita” Gonzalez, Rodolfo Martinez, Chucho Castillo and Pedro Flores

on November 25 in Puebla, the Capital City of the State of Puebla.

The Governor of the State of Puebla will honor the President of the WBC, Jose Sulaiman, by inaugurating a

modern boxing gymnasium that will have the name of “JOSE SULAIMAN”, as a recognition by the state for

all what the President of the WBC has done for boxing in Mexico and the state. The President of the WBC

has expressed his humble gratitude for the bestowing on him such an honor and will join Governor Mario

Marin in the opening of the screen with the corresponding inscription.

The program organized for that day includes three clinics with lectures given by authentic boxing specialists

and in the evening, a boxing card.

The boxing clinics will be very interesting to all boxing people and specially, will benefit boxing in Puebla,

and will be as follows: judges and referees (performance, minimum, average and maximum experience);

medical, directly aimed at the practice of boxing, and the third will be about technique for trainers and

seconds.

These clinics will be coordinated by ex world bantam champion and current President of the Puebla Boxing

Commission, Alfredo Meneses.

The Boxing evening will be staged at the Gymnasium “Miguel Hidalgo” which is part of the compound where

the new gym will be inaugurated. The bouts will initiate at 17:00 hrs (5pm) and will conclude approximately at

22:30 hours (10:30pm).

The announced cards will be:

- For the CABOFE superfeather title between champion Hector “Chocolate” Marquez and Jorge Torres,

  to 12 rounds.

- For the FECARBOX lightweight title, between champion Cesar Soriano and Juan Sarabia, 12 rounds.

- A non-title bout in the feather division between Alberto Garza and Jose Navarrete.

- A non-title bout in the bantam division between Genaro Poblanito Garcia and Rodolfo Martinez, to 4

  rounds. Poblanito is an idol to the fans in Puebla and next he will have the opportunity to fight for the title.

This gymnasium and the boxing event in general will be the very first one celebrated in the Mexican Republic

and hopefully it will be the first of many more held in Mexico where boxing has been the sport that has given

our country many Olympic medals and professional world titles.

Our President Jose Sulaiman feels deeply moved for the rather positive attitude of the State and City

government of Puebla, and on behalf of the WBC and all its members around the world, he conveys his

profound gratitude for this great boxing event and also for the gymnasium that will carry his name.

On the other hand, we reiterate that the great Mexican boxing idols we mention here, will attend this

ceremony. Everyone of them will receive a Diploma in recognition of all their unforgettable achievements on

the boxing arenas.
