- Special Thanks go out to Anthony J. Sullivan for the following recap and results:

One of the notables of the event was seeing UFC stand-out Spencer Fisher taking on the role as referee for

seven of the bouts - and he did an awesome job. All in all, it was a good night of fights.

Fight 1 - Amateur MMA Bout

Kierre Gouch wins by first round TKO (strikes) over Jon Heiman

Gouch of Team Bushi Ban in Pasadena, Texas beat 169 lb. Heiman of Team Firepit in Scranton, Kansas by

first round referee stoppage due to strikes. Both were in their first MMA fight according to the Commission.

Gouch came out on fire, landing a big knee and punches. Gouch slammed him twice and both were huge.

He then took the mount and battered him with punches until the stoppage. Heiman was a very game fighter

but every fighter from Team Bushi Ban is awsome when it comes to being in shape and having skills.

Fight 2 - Amateur MMA Bout

Bruce Washington wins by first round TKO over David Ross

192 lb. Team Bushi Ban fighter Washington won his first MMA fight against the 185 lb. Ross of Topeka,

Kansas and Team Point of Contact by first round TKO in about a minute. They both started the fight

throwing punches with Washington getting the better of it. Washington hit him with a brutal punch that

caused his opponents mouthpiece to go flying. Spencer Fisher (referee) stopped it as Ross went down.

Fight 3 - Amateur MMA Bout

Charles Hiersche wins by submission (strikes) at 1:55 of the first round over John Albright

153 lb. Hiersche won his first MMA match with a first round tap out due to strikes against the 149 lb.

Albright of Team Point of Contact in Topeka, Kansas. Charles rushed him, took him down and worked the

ground & pound. Albright was trying to work from the bottom but got caught with strikes. Hiersche fights for

Intergrated Martial Science in Lawrence, Kansas.

Fight 4 - Amateur MMA Bout

Mike Contreras wins by submission (rear naked choke) at :45 of the first round over Sean Smith

The 236 lb. Contreras won his first fight by first round tap out due to a rear naked choke against the 246 lb.

pro wrestler "Sweet" Shawn Smith of Topeka, Kansas (who was making his MMA debut). The two traded

punches until Smith struck him with a leg kick, then got a good take down. On the ground, Contreras took

control and took his back, then sunk in the choke. Smith showed tremendous heart in his first match.

Contreras was from Pasadena, Texas but they never announced if he was part of Team Bushi Ban or not.

Fight 5 - Amateur MMA Bout

Matt Rangel wins by first round TKO (injury) over Cory Switzer

166 lb. Team Bushi Ban fighter Rangel won his first MMA match with a first round TKO due to injury over

local fighter Switzer. Rangel started out with a flying knee attempt, then hit him with one hard punch. As

Cory went down from the punch, he spiked his shoulder on the mat - dislocating his shoulder.

Fight 6 - Amateur MMA Bout

Chris Reed wins by TKO (strikes) at :58 of the first round over Darrin Akins

The 204 lb. Team Bushi Ban monster Reed beat the 200 lb. Akins (making his MMA debut) by referee

stoppage due to strikes. Reed slammed Akins hard to the mat at the beginning of the match. I mean it was

a huge slam. When they hit the ground, Reed got in north-south position and pounded the the hell out of

Akins until the referee stopped it. Chris Reed is a fighter who is one to keep your eye on because he has a

great look and had tremendous skill for an amateur.

Fight 7 - Amateur MMA Bout

Cory Garcia wins by TKO at 2:15 of the first round over Will West

141 lb. Team Bushi Ban fighter Garcia won his first MMA match with a first round TKO over the 136 lb.

West of Hoyt, Kansas who was also in his first match. They locked up right off the bat - West hit a punch

that rocked Garcia momentarily, then hit him with some big knees while standing. Garcia was able to

weather the storm and take the match to the mat where he started with the ground & pound. It went for a

while before the stoppage came. A very fast paced, evenly matched bout.

Fight 8 - Professional MMA Bout (3x5min)

Bea Sherman wins by submission (choke) at 1:08 of the second round over Bailey Manix

The 175 lb. Sherman of Ft. Worth, Texas took his record to 1-1 by beating the 167 lb. Manix of Hanover

Park, Illinois (who was in his first MMA match) by second round tap out due to a choke (it was almost a rear

naked choke and almost a side choke). Round one started with Sherman coming out landing a front kick -

They went to the ground with Manix getting top mount before he lost it in a scramble. The action slowed

down from the fast pace for a bit until the referee warned them he was going to stand them up and they both

hit the gas pedal again. Manix almost sunk in a guillotine after another great scramble. Sherman was able to

reverse his position and was going for a rear naked when the round ended. At the start of round two, both

men got a little extra time as they had to wipe up some water on the mat. Sherman came out with a flying

knee, then got top mount working his ground & pound. After a bit, Sherman was able to sink in the choke for

the win. This was an amazing fight.

Fight 9 - Professional MMA Bout (3x5min)

Wayne Weems wins by submission (rear naked choke) at :32 of the first round over Dan Robinson

The 180 lb. Weems of Moline, Illinois beat the 171 lb. Robinson of Omaha, Nebraska by first round tap out

due to a rear naked choke. They traded kicks to start the match before it hit the ground. Both were

scrambling as Weems secured a textbook rear naked choke. This fight was a very quick fight but it was

very good.

Fight 10 - Professional MMA Bout (3x5min)

Ryan Bixler wins by TKO at 1:48 of the first round over James Ford Miller

Miletich fighter Bixler (160 lbs) beat the debuting 151 lb. Miller of Topeka, Kansas by first round TKO. Miller

landed a kick to the face to open the bout but was slammed to the ground. Bixler looked completely calm

as he took Miller's back and started landing devastating punches to the side of his head. Before the referee

stopped the fight, Bixler was playing to the crowd showing great charisma.

Fight 11 - Professional Women's MMA Bout (3x5min)

Samantha Smith wins by TKO at 4:02 of the second round over Lindsey Deal

The 146 lb. Smith of Moline, Illinois took her pro record to 2-2 (with 1-0 am record) with a second round TKO

over the debuting Deal (also of Moline, Illinois) in the fight of the night. They started out with Smith taking

Deal into the cage, trying for a guillotine choke, however Deal was able to get the fight on the ground and

take top mount. Smith then tried to secure a triangle choke from the bottom but Deal was able to survive

after trying to slam her way out a couple of times. Smith tried to secure the triangle for some time before

Deal escaped and they both stood up. The first round ended with both women throwing punches. To start

round two, they both came out throwing punches, knees, and kicks. Smith held her in a front head lock,

then took it to the ground. Smith pounded her from the top position until the match was stopped. Deal went

to the hospital after the match with a concussion.

Fight 12 - Professional Main Event: MMA Bout (3x5min)

Sean Huffman wins by submission (rear naked choke) at 1:04 of the third round over Norman Alexander

The 176 lb. Miletich fighter Huffman defeated the 168 lb. Alexander of South Michigan by way of third round

submission due to a rear naked choke. This was an awesome fight to end the night. They started out fast

with Huffman taking control, pressing Alexander against the cage, then taking it to the ground. While on top,

Huffman was trying for a kimura but Alexander escaped, then was mounted again. In round two, both came

out - slugging it out before Alexander pulled guard. Once again, Huffman almost had a kimura locked in

again. After the ref (Spencer Fisher) stood them up because of a stall in action, both came out swinging for

the fences. Huffman was able to get top mount on the ground and was trying for another choke. It was all

ground & pound with Alexander hanging in there strong. Huffman was able to land some big blows before the

end of the round. The third round started out with Huffman landing a big punch but Alexander answered back

with a head kick. Huffman was able to take him down again and won with the rear naked choke. Alexander

laid on the mat for a bit, looked a little out of it, but eventually was able to leave the cage on his own.
