Redondo Beach, CA TFA News December 15, 2009

Todd Meacham, TFA's CEO and Matchmaker may not have the belly to play Santa Claus, but his heart is

big enough to give all three hundred of his hard training fighters a holiday break. Included among the fighters

headed to a trio of championship bouts scheduled for the second Saturday in March, is the pride of Krav

Maga, Marcus Kowal, whose foreign holiday travel ruled out a proposed event on the day after Christmas.

Kowal was one of a number of fighters against the idea of rescheduling the canceled Nov. 14th. show on a

holiday weekend.

"My guys want to eat!" said Meacham, who knows better than anyone the sacrifices one has to make to

become an MMA champion in the Total Fighting Alliance. "The holidays are for food and family, no one

needs to be making weight for a fight with turkey on the table." Meacham added.

When asked about the situation for fans holding tickets for the canceled "TFA 17 MMA at the Alpine",

Meacham said that they will be issued new tickets with identical seating for the March 13th show. Watch

the TFA website for the official announcement of TFA's 2010 schedule when competing offers from various

venues have been evaluated and contracts signed. Meacham has turned down offers from two Indian Casinos

outside of the Los Angeles area because of his belief that they are too far away from his loyal 4,000 strong

local fan base.

"We're South Bay" Meacham said, referring to the Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach roots for himself

and most of his fighters. "We're talking to people at Hollywood Park Casino, Alpine Village, and we'd even

consider a show at HAX if the City of Hawthorne wasn't trying to solve their budget crisis on the backs of

promoters with outrageous security costs." Meacham said, lamenting the costs for a fifty strong security

detachment required by the Hawthorne Police Chief as part of the Special Event Permit issued for the bouts.

"50 security for 800 people? That's ludicrous" said Meacham, adding "We cater to upscale sports

enthusiasts from the Beach cities, not the boys in the hood." Fan surveys rate Santa Monica Civic Center

number one, so "we'll have to wait and see who gives us the best deal" for our 2010 shows.

Meacham said there would be two exceptions to TFA's show not going on the road: Camp Pendleton and the

Warped Tour. "Those guys and gals are heroes" "Heroes!" said Meacham, who would gladly entertain the

brave Marines training to fight for our country by giving them best show we can give them; "Our best for their

best" A commercial sponsor, possibly in the Defense Industry, is needed as tickets cannot be sold on

military bases. "Watch www.tfafights.com for the announcements of the three championship bouts, dates,

and venues for TFA in 2010!
