Yuma, AZ - The extreme cage fighting contest, Total Combat 27, a live, mixed martial arts fighting sport that takes place inside an octagonal cage, returns to Paradise Casinos on Saturday, March 22nd at 6 p.m. This no-holds-barred fighting event kicks-off with a pre-fight at 7 p.m. followed by eight action-packed matches at 7:30 p.m. and leading to the night's main event, Johnny Torres vs. Shannon Gugerty.
This new, thrilling and adrenaline-pumping form of fighting also known as Mixed Martial Arts or MMA, debuted onto the Mixed Martial Arts scene back in November 2003 in Tijuana, Mexico. The objective was to give MMA athletes a venue to showcase and test their skills in front of a live audience. Through tremendous fan response, Total Combat quickly became the premiere, Southern California MMA event to attend. This sport has been made popular by the Ultimate Fighting Championship and has found a home at Paradise Casinos, the exclusive venue for top-notch entertainment and sports events. This is Total Combat's fourth showdown at Paradise Casinos and fifth in Yuma, AZ.
Total Combat 27's official fight card features an ultimate match between Shannon Gugerty from Alliance MMA in San Diego, CA and Imperial Valley's own, Johnny Torres from IE Grapplers in El Centro, CA for a showdown that promises to be a back and forth struggle for control of the ground game. Other matches include Joe Ochoa VS Brett Albe; Clint Larosa VS. George Castro; Edgar Garcia VS Efrain Rodriguez; Jamie Shaffer VS Sean Majors; Nick Mogaddam VS Jason Wessling; Kenny Mendoza VS Rolando Perez, and last but not least, Alex Garcia VS Efrain Escudero.
Yuma fighters Joe Ochoa, Clint Larose, Edgar Garcia and Efrain Rodriguez will take on fighters from California and beyond to prove that Yuma is the hot spot for the next generation of cage fighters. Joining them from the Imperial Valley are Alex Garcia, Brawley, Jamie Shaffer, Brawley and headliner, Johnny Torres from El Centro. These fighters will be testing their skills and looking to graduate from the Total Combat cage in hopes of moving on to world wide fame with the opportunity of landing pay-per-view fights in the UFC, as Total Combat 27 focuses on Arizona to see what champions will come from the Grand Canyon State. And adding on to the night's excitement are the Total Combat Dolls, the exhilarating professional dance squad that keeps the fans entertained between fights.
Weigh-ins will be held in front of the casino on Friday, March 21st from 4 p.m. - 6:00p.m. Local fighters will be available for interviews.
Paradise Casinos is the exclusive venue for Total Combat in Yuma, AZ. Tickets are only $75 Ringside, $37.50 Floor or $25 Bleacher. Gates open at 6pm, Pre-fight at 7pm and the action starts at 7:30pm.
