"Hostile Takeover"

May 12, 2006

Maner Conference Center

Sunflower Ballroom

Topeka, Kansas

- Special Thanks go out to Anthony J. Sullivan for the following recap \ results:

The event was held in a small hotel ballroom that was nearly full - about 1,000 fans. Not quite what was

expected - Too many one sided fights. Unfortunately, a problem that needed to be addressed at this show

is one that plagues many promotions - too many people standing in front of the cage - which meant everyone

had to stand up to see the action, which tends to lead to other problems. Could have just been an off night -

let's hope that TFC 3 addresses this problem.

Fight 1 - Amateur Featherweight Bout

Jerrod Duncan wins by submission (choke) at 4:09 of the first round over Jeff Bush

Duncan controlled most of the bout with his take downs and his superior striking.

Fight 2 - Amateur Welterweight Bout

Ryan Wright wins by submission (rear naked choke) at 3:00 of the first round over Courtney Spinks

Wright (Kansas City, MO) evens his amateur record at 1-1 while Spinks amateur record falls to 1-2.

Spinks opened with a punch that rocked Wright but Wright answered that with a huge slam (HUGE). Spinks

held him in a guillotine choke until he tired which allowed Wright to ground 'n pound till he secured the

choke.

Fight 3 - Pro Heavyweight Bout (3x5min)

Billy Conwell wins by first round submission (strikes) over Travis Kulhavy

The physically impressive Conwell of Wellington, KS went to 2-0 after destroying Kulhavy, who is now 0-3, in

under a minute. Conwell took Travis down with ease and then held him in a half nelson side mount move. He

then pounded him with one hand until the tap. Conwell looked golden in his first outing when he knocked out

Ryan McClain in Tulsa but it is hard to tell if he has improved because Kulhavy had no business being

in there. Conwell looks like a larger Jeff Monson without the tattoos.

Fight 4 - Pro Middleweight Bout (3x5min)

Jack Hodge wins by first round submission (rear naked choke) over Clinton Bonds

Hodge, who replaced Joe Heabener, gets his first win (now 1-2). Bonds, of Ft. Smith, Ark, keeps his record

perfect at 0-4 in MMA. Bonds is also a pro boxer with a record of 2-5, 2 KOs - Surprisingly, he won his last

boxing bout on 5/6/06 in Oklahoma. Bonds should seriously consider retiring or taking a few years off to train

before resuming his career in the fight game. And not to be mean spirited but as an observation, this fight

was an absolute joke as Hodge slammed him, landed a few blows, then got a weak looking choke and

Bonds tapped.

Fight 5 - Pro Featherweight Bout (3x5min)

Shane Waits wins by first round TKO over Larry Payne

Tulsa Team Extreme fighter Waits improves his record to 2-0 by beating local Topeka, KS fighter Payne who

evens his record at 1-1. This was the most equally matched fight but Waits was able to take control and

secure the win with his superior ground game. The finish came as Payne gave up his back and Waits

decided to throw punches.

Fight 6 - Pro Lightweight Bout (3x5min)

Daniel Sullivan wins by first round submission (rear naked choke) over Dustin Phillips

Sullivan improves to 2-1 while Phillips goes to 1-1. Both came out very aggressively with neither taking

control until Sullivan got the better of a scramble, reversed him and secured the choke.

Fight 7 - Pro Featherweight Bout (3x5min)

LC Davis wins by first round submission (strikes) over Ace Anderson

Davis, the crowd favorite (as in everyone was rooting for him),  took his pro record to 2-0 (he is 3-0 as an

amateur) with a win over Muay Thai Kickboxer Anderson who now has a MMA record of 2-4. Ace came in

with a superman punch, then did what he always does when he is off his feet, nothing.

Fight 8 - Pro Middleweight Bout (3x5min)

Eric Singer wins by first round TKO over Chris Belshe

This was evenly matched. They both locked up in a clinch and worked knees. Belshe took the mount but

lost it in a reversal. Singer tried forever to secure a rear naked choke but gave up and pounded him until the

referee stepped in.

Fight 9 - Pro Welterweight Bout (3x5min)

Derrick Xayvonagsa wins by second round TKO over Bobby Martin

It was clear this was an upset as the announcer stated Martin was a former resident of Topeka. Martin tried

to take him down but Derrick took the mount and landed many blows as Martin tried his best to get a

triangle choke. Martin then got the reversal and did nothing until the bell rang for the second. The second

started as Derrick got the takedown and landed punches for what seemed like forever until the referee

stopped it.

Fight 10 - Main Event: Pro Welterweight Bout (3x5min)

Bobby Voelker wins by first round TKO over Johnathan Richmond

Voelker ups his record to 3-1 (he has a 10-0 amateur record). Richmond was a replacement for Clarence

Bowens. They clinched up with Richmond getting the takedown but Voelker reversed it, took the mount and

landed punches until the ref stepped in.
