The Titan Fighting Championship,
the first pro MMA in Kansas City, was held on Saturday night with over
3,000 exuberant fans in
attendance - and among the notables in the crowd, Defensive End Jared
Allen of
the Kansas City Chiefs, former
UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and Ultimate Fighter 2 vet
Brad
Imes. Promoter
extraordinaire Monte Cox served as timekeeper.
Amateur Bouts were three
rounds (three minutes each round). Pro Bouts were three rounds (five
minutes
each round). All the pro bouts
were refereed by Matt Hughes. Weight of the fighters (in lbs.) are
in
parenthesis next to their
name.
Fight 1 - Amateur Bout
Chad Jay (185) wins by
submission (rear naked choke) at :30 of the first round over Craig
Welch (184)
Jay improves his record to 3-2
while Welch goes to 2-2.
Fight 2 - Amateur Bout
Bill Jones (187) wins
by TKO (strikes) at :56 of the first round over Justin Shields
Fight 3 - Amateur Bout
Adam Silcio (143)
wins by submission (arm bar) at :56 of the second round over Dave
Kelly (145) - This
was a great fight - both men
showed the warrior spirit - Silcio improves his record to 2-0 while Kelley
goes
to 2-1.
Fight 4 - Amateur Bout
Ricky Ybarra (155) and
Brock Kerry (145) battled to a draw - 28-28, 29-27 Ybarra, 29-28

Fight 5 - Amateur Bout
Sam Ortiz (135) wins by
submission (arm bar) at 1:39 of the first round over Anthony Young
(146) - Ortiz
improves his record to 5-1.
Fight 6 - Pro Bout
Chris Belshe (204)
wins by TKO at :27 of the first round over Dan Wheatley (254) -
Belshe wins his pro
debut - Crowd was upset at the
decision because it appeared to be a premature stoppage - Belshe took
the mount and hit him with
about three punches before the ref called it off.
Fight 7 - Pro Bout - 205 lb.
Bout
Alan Belcher wins by
TKO (injury) at :37 of the first round over Ron Fields - "The
Talent" Belcher improves
his record to 4-1 while Fields
announced record goes to 24-17 - Belcher went to slam Fields and Fields
put
his arm out to brace himself
causing his arm to fracture at the elbow.
Fight 8 - Pro Bout
Ben Uker (164) wins by
first round submission (choke) over Wes White (163)
Fight 9 - Pro Bout
Bobby Volker wins by
TKO (strikes) at 4:47 of the first round over Kyle Bradley - Local
favorite Volker
goes to 1-0 (15-0 as an
amateur) while Bradley moves to 7-3. This was an absolute slug fest as
both men
just stood there and traded
bombs. Volker looked really good.
Fight 10 - Pro Bout
Rob Kimmons (185) wins
a unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) over Kenny Stevens -
Local favorite
Kimmons improves his record to
5-1 with his victory over Ultimate Fighter Season 2 participant Stevens -
The entire building was in a
frenzy during this bout - Kimmons was the obvious fan favorite at this
event.
Fight 11 - Pro Bout
Jay Hieron (178) wins
by TKO (strikes) at :55 of the first round over Steve Schneider
(169) - Heiron
improves his record to 7-2 -
Hieron came out and threw each strike with knockout intentions - Schneider
was in over his head in this
match.
