Last week at King of the Cage, we were lucky to catch up and spend a few minutes talking with KOTC

welterweight stand-out Thomas Kenney (after his second round submission win over Shawn Bias).

Kenney and Bias arguably had the fight of the night. Unfortunately for us, we had microphone problems and

the video interview is very difficult to hear, so we've transcribe the interview although we're making the video

available for those who would like to try and follow along.

Video Interview: 12.2 MB

TFG.tv: This is Al Nava, I'm here with Thomas Kenney - Thomas, you guys put on a hell of a show...

Thomas: Thank you very much

TFG.tv: Your opponent was a pretty tough guy, How did you feel him out man?

Thomas: He was a scrappy little bastard. He was - in the first round, I just started off real slow - I always

do, you know - this time was kind of no different but he's a tough guy, you know, so I was able to pull

through a really tough win - so I was happy with the win.

TFG.tv: When you first saw him, was it basically what you expected cause you cliched off and or did you

think...well, I'm going to feel him out first and just see the way...hey, this is going to be a really tough

match... - after the first round, everybody was like, oh man...

Thomas: Yeah...well I think coming into the fight, it was going to be a tough match. I know he is a scrappy

guy - he is real explosive, he's a wrestler. So, if you have a wrestling background, I know it's going to be a

tough match. I threw...I came in and threw a couple of punches - trying to get my connection for a shot and I

was able to slow that down a little bit but he was able to maintain the top position but... I hung in there pretty

tough - I had some Great corner work by this man over here - John De La O. You know, I think this is the

first fight I actually listened to him and hey, it paid off...you know, so I should probably listen to the guy more

often instead of just ignoring him...laughing.

TFG.tv: So what do you feel now - you feel you're ready for a title shot, or is that in the future, or what do you

think?

Thomas: Hey you know, it looks like James Fanshier and Thomas Denny are going to have their rubber

match - their third fight, so that, that was a shocker to me tonight. James looked pretty good but hey, you

can never count the Wildman out - he always comes bringing it... so of course I would like a title shot but I

think James...this is his third...you know, the rubber match taken care of, but hopefully they will remember

me, you know, when they talk about that, when they talk about future opponents. But like I said before, there

are a lot of tough guys at 170 - you know , you got John Allessio, I think he's going up to 85. You got

"Joker" (Mike Guymon) - It's just... a lot of tough, tough guys so I just hope my name is somewhere on

that list - maybe I'll throw Terry a nice fat 20 or something like that - give him some money and try to help

the bargaining out (laughing).

TFG.tv: Well Thomas, it's always a pleasure man, you have to thank anyone?

Thomas: I got to thank a couple of sponsors - I know, you know I got to do all this bs stuff - but, I wanna

Thank Nunya Fight Wear - They take really good care of me - Ben & Michelle. We have Sullen Clothing,

Bam! (showing off his jacket). We got Vitamin Water. We got Dewalt Tools...Guaranteed Tough!!

We have...

John De La O (in the background): How about De Le O Jiu-Jitsu?

Thomas: I'll thank them last (with light-hearted attitude). I got So Cal Tiki's,  I got...Clinch Gear,

Jack Surfs Shop, Ruckus Fightwear, we have Sirius Athletic Wear, we got Topping Events...I'm trying to

think...

TFG.tv: I hope you didn't forget anybody (chuckling)

Thomas: Filthy athletics, its a new company that's just coming out, you know, they gave me some gear,

stuff like that. I got supplements, so check them out filthyathletics.com - they got some gear coming up in

the next couple of days. I want to Thank all my sponsors. I know I left a couple of you guys out so I

apologize...you know, don't hate me for this. But also Mr. John De La O. You know, this fight...I don't know if

anyone knows the back story to this fight, but John fought Shawn Bias and lost to him - and I jumped into

the ring right away and I issued a challenge and Terry and those guys gave me the fight - I went from 195

and dropped all the way down to 155lbs for this fight, so this fight was for that man right there - pan on over

to that guy right there (pointing to John De La O) - this fight right here was for this man right here - You know

this guy works my ass off - but he busts me everyday so its the least I can do - I've said this before, he

turned a hobby of mine into a career - and this is the least I can do to Thank this guy. And also I got two

other people to thank - my Mom and my Dad. My Dad, this is the first fight he's been to of mine - I've had

almost 20 fights now, this is the first fight he came to, so this is a very special fight for me.

John De La O: I want to do one thing that Tom is too classy to do - We saw what happen between Fanshier

and Thomas Denny - Tom Kenney has been fighting here at King of the Cage for the last four years and he

hasn't gotten anywhere near a title shot. Thomas Denny, when we take a look at you in the cage right now,

alright, we're calling you out right now...right here, right now at King of the Cage. It's time to give this man his

due. And if your the champion everyone thinks you are, then you're going to take him on, and then we'll be

done talking.

TFG.tv: Anything else to add - a shout out to anybody or...

Thomas: I think I thanked all my sponsors - if not, like I said, I apologize. I want to thank

TheFightGame.tv, the best website out there...

De La O: You're damn right

Thomas: They take really good care of us so I want to thank you guys - also, there a couple of other guys I

can't really say because of rival websites but you guys know who you are so I want to Thank you guys for

everything.

TFG.tv: Thomas, thanks for being with us, it's always a pleasure.

Thomas: Thank you

TFG.tv: This is Al Nava along with Thomas Kenney for TheFightGame.tv

TheFightGame.tv would like to Thank Mr. Kenney, Mr. De La O and the entire De La O Jiu-Jitsu team for
