Smack Girl

To Start Wrestling Company

Special Thanks go out to Frank Pozen (MMA World-Fighting Women) for his article:

Womens mixed martial arts company Smackgirl owner Yasuki Shino held a press conference on

Wednesday at Shinjuku FACE to announce that Smackgirl is starting a wrestling company called Girls

Door. Supposedly the wrestling style is to be reminiscent of AJW and veteran wrestler and trainer Kaoru Ito

will be the main wrestler in the promotion. Several of Ito's trainees have worked MMA bouts for Smackgirl.

The first show will be on Nov. 23 at Shinjuku FACE and Kaoru Ito will team with her close pal Tomoko

Watanabe for this show. They are hoping to have 7 matches with up to 18 wrestlers participating.

The plan is to run a show per month in Tokyo and then expand from there. They are also opening a dojo to

be run by Kaoru Ito.

As I said, Ito has worked a lot with Smackgirl over the past year and this is a good place for her trainees. Of

course Girls Door will use a lot of freelancers at the start. Among those scheduled to participate at the first

Girls Door show are Kaoru Ito, Tomoko Watanabe, Saki Maemura, Michiko Ohmukai, Ayumi Kurihara,

Shinohara, Kumiko Maekawa, Megumi Yabushita, Mariko Yoshida, Mayumi Hashiba (former

Metomix bikini wrestler who has worked MMA matches for Smackgirl) and former AJW trainee Ayako Sato

will redebut on this show.

El Gran Hamada has been hired to supervise the show and will likely handle the booking with Ito. Hamada

is supposed to get some overseas wrestlers too. Girls Door will be sponsored by EWF Ltd., an IT company

owned by Shino. A press conference will be held in the next week or so to announce the debut card and also

announce the Girls Door website and other internet strategies. Needless to say, we don't need another joshi

company but Shino has done a decent job with Smackgirl. Maybe he can do the same with Girls Door.
