On Saturday, February 10, 2007, Pro Elite Inc. along with Showtime Networks will present the inaugural

edition of Elite Xtreme Combat (EXC) Mixed Martial Arts live on Showtime starting at 10pm Eastern and

Pacific (delayed on the West Coast). The non-televised undercard will also be streamed live on the internet -

The main event for the card will see MMA stand-out Frank Shamrock go up against recent IFL winner

Renzo Gracie. Shamrock last fought in March of this year at Strikeforce and came away with a win over

Cesar Gracie while Renzo is coming off a submission win over Pat Miletich this past September (and has

a Super Fight coming up at the IFL against Carlos Newton on December 29th). At a press conference held

at the Roosevelt Hotel on Thursday afternoon, Shamrock stated that he has always wanted to fight Renzo

and that people will see Frank Shamrock showing his soul. Renzo stated it is an honor to fight Frank and

that he hopes he sees the Shamrock that beat Tito Ortiz.

Other fighters on the card include KOTC and No Limits stand-out Tim "Big Perm" Persey (video interview),

UFC veteran David "The Crow" Loiseau who said "it will be Crow time on Showtime" and recent

Strikeforce single fight winner Gina Carano who stated that she has "good vibes" about the show and that

she is "not a freak show, she really knows how to fight."

In addition to the introduction of the fighters, CEO of EliteXC Doug DeLuca highlighted three areas that the

EXC focuses on that met with a round of applause - Taking care of the fighters, delivering to the fans and

doing what is good for the sport. He also stated that he would like to see MMA as an Olympic sport in five

years.

Boxing promoter extraordinaire and EXC Live Events President Gary Shaw stated that they "will put the

best product out for the fans." We were very fortunate to catch up with Mr. Shaw after the event and spoke

with him about the EXC (video interview).

It was also announced that Penn State two-time NCAA All American wrestler Eric Bradley (Legends Gym)

and Cage Warriors and Hero's veteran Antonio Silva will participate in future shows.

The press conference started with radio and television personality Adam Carrola telling a few jokes and

introducing the event which included the announcers for the EXC - pro wrestling superstar Bill Goldberg

and television star Mario Lopez.
