IBO \ WBC Silver Bantamweight Title (12 Rds)

Abner Mares (21-0-1, 13 KOs) wins a split decision over Vic Darchinyan (35-3-1, 27 KOs) - Judges

scored the bout for 115-111 Darchinyan, 114-112 Mares, 115-111 Mares - Mares wins IBO title from

Darchinyan, wins vacant WBC Silver title and advances to final of the World Bantamweight Tournament.

In the first round, Mares suffered a cut in the upper left region of his forehead from an accidental head butt

(but wasn't really an issue for the remainder of the fight). In the second round, Darchinyan scored a flash

knock down when he tagged Mares with a straight left that caused Mares to lose his balance going

backwards and his left glove touched the canvas. In the fourth round, Mares penalized a point for low blows.

In the seventh round, Darchinyan downed with a counter right jab (up right away).

 

IBF Bantamweight Title Bout (12 Rds)

Joseph Agbeko (28-2-0, 22 KOs) wins a unanimous decision over Yohnny Perez (20-1-1, 14 KOs) -

Judges scored the bout 116-112, 117-111, 115-113 for Agbeko - Agbeko regains IBF title from Perez.

Agbeko advances to the final of the World Bantamweight Tournament against Abner Mares (Vic

Darchinyan will face Yohnny Perez in the consolation match).
