Rule change for the tournament - when there is a weight difference of more than 20kg (44.09 lbs) in a GP

bout, kicking to the head and face while on the ground is prohibited. When the weight difference is less than

20kg, the rule may be implemented by the fighter of the lighter weight. Also, there will be no reserve bout for

the tournament until the final round. PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko is expected to be

able to participate in the second round of the tournament (first round bye). The PRIDE Open-weight GP

Tournament begins with the May 5th event at the Osaka Dome in Osaka, Japan. The second round of the

tournament will take place on July 1st at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan with the final round

being held on September 10th, also at the Saitama Super Arena.
