Jeff Monson Signed to Compete at

NAAFS Rock N Rumble

 

 

(06/26/09 - Cleveland, OH) - The North American Allied Fight Series is pleased to announce the signing of

Pride, Dream and six time UFC veteran, Jeff "The Snowman" Monson to compete at the upcoming 3rd

Annual NAAFS Rock N Rumble event on Saturday August 29th in Cleveland, OH. Jeff Monson is one of the

top Mixed Martial Arts heavyweights in the world. A world class grappler Monson competes regularly in

submission tournaments representing the United States. He has won more gold medals for the United

States then any grappler now competing.

 

The pinnacle of Monson's UFC career was UFC 65, where he fought Tim Sylvia to a five-round decision for

the UFC Heavyweight title. Now Jeff Monson brings his impressive resume to the NAAFS Pro Series

Heavyweight division. Monson's opponent will be Tony Sylvester (12-1-1, Midwest Training Center), of

Canton, OH, now training out of Chicago, IL in association with Black Force MMA Management.

 

"We have added depth to our HW division while putting together a tremendous match up for NAAFS fans."

said NAAFS president and Pro Series matchmaker Greg Kalikas. "For the past few years the NAAFS has

been known for creating top MMA prospects but now we feel we have the credibility to bring in fighters the

caliber of a Jeff Monson and Tony Sylvester which will continue to increase our awareness on a national

level."

 

In addition to Tony Sylvester versus Jeff Monson, the 3rd Annual Rock N Rumble will also see many of the

top stars in the Pro & National Amateur Series in action. Already announced is UFC veteran Josh "Heavy"

Hendricks (15-5) taking on former Pro Series Heavyweight Champion "Cujo" Joe McCall (6-1), plus fans will

witness a Pro Series Middleweight fight as Chris "The Assassin" Lozano (6-1) of Strong Style Fight Team

steps back in the NAAFS cage with John "The Bullet" Fields (4-2) of Instigator Fight Team. More fights for

The main event of War on the Shore 3 is a National Amateur Welterweight division fight, as #3 ranked Sean-

Paul Veilleux (3-2) steps inside the cage with Jeremy Joles (5-3), originally from Madison, OH but now

residing in Charleston, SC. In addition, #1 ranked Kevin Zalac (5-0-1) of Next Level Jiu-Jitsu makes his return

to the NAAFS against #3 ranked Marcos Pecina (7-1) of USA Martial Arts in very highly anticipated National

Amateur Middleweight division clash. The cross town rivalry continues when Graham Governor (6-0) of

Strong Style Fight Team takes on Team GriffonRawl's Reggie Parks (5-1) in a Welterweight battle. Plus #4

ranked Bill Morosetti (4-1) of H20 MMA steps back inside the NAAFS cage with the highly touted Miguel

Defina (4-1) of Team GriffonRawl.

The NAAFS is Heading Back to Columbus for

Caged Vengeance 5 

 

 

 

(06/16/09 - Columbus, OH) - The Midwest's premier mixed martial arts promotion, the NAAFS, heads back

to the capital of the Buckeye State, Columbus, OH on Friday July 10th for NAAFS Caged Vengeance 5.

Columbus has been the site for many memorable NAAFS moments and the tradition will no doubt continue

when the some of the top stars of the National Amateur Series are in action live. With the initial 2009 NAAFS

Rankings released, each and every fight now takes on a whole new level of importance. Make sure to secure

The list of memorable moments to take place in Columbus, OH has continued to grow since the first NAAFS

event back in May of 2007. It was at the original Columbus Night of Pain that Matt "The Lumberjack" Lisi

defeated Felix "The Cat" Catheline by what the NAAFS Nation voted as Knockout of the Year. At Columbus

Night of Pain 3, Rob "The Bullrider" Wince won his retirement fight against Willie Smalls in front of a very

emotional hometown crowd. The event also saw future National Amateur Champions Dane Bonnigson, Lyle

Sansoucie, and Adam Farrell in action. Columbus Night of Pain 4 played host to new champions being

crowned, as well as some of the top stars in the National Amateur Series in action. After nearly a year layoff,

two-time UFC veteran Sean Salmon returned to the sport to capture the Pro Series Middleweight Title.

Meanwhile, Justin Black avenged a previous loss in defeating "Cujo" Joe McCall to capture the Pro Series

Heavyweight Title. Most recently at Caged Vengeance 4, the title changed hands again when Jason Riley

ended Black's reign to become the new champion. The tradition of memorable moments will continue on

July 10th with Caged Vengeance 5!

 

Caged Vengeance 5 will be held at the Lifestyle's Pavilion outdoor theatre, making this the first ever outdoor

NAAFS event in Columbus. The areas top gyms, including Columbus MMA, Buckeye MMA, Walker's MMA,

and more will have their fighters prepared to do battle and to make a statement inside the NAAFS cage.
