Butzer Makes Successful Return to the Cage

(04/27/09 - Akron, OH) - The NAAFS once again returned to Chapparell's in Akron, OH on Saturday April

25th for another night of intense mixed martial arts action inside the cage. The stars of the National Amateur

Series laid it all on the line, looking to move one step closer to championship aspiriations. The packed house

was treated to a night featuring a mixture of new talent along with some very familiar names.

In the main, Cody Butzer (5-1) of East Coast Martial Arts & Instigator Fight Team made a successful return

to the sport after a long absence, defeating Jason Wolfe (7-3) of Team Jorge Gurgel by TKO at 2:10 of the

first round. Butzer had long been known for his wrestling pedigree, displayed his versatility as a fighter by

unleashing his previously unheralded hands to secure a convincing first round win. Cody won't have much

time to celebrate the win, as now his sights are set on Fight Nite in the Flats V and an impending battle

against Russ Halsey of Pain Headquarters in one of the more anticipated fights on that stellar card.

Midwest Combat Challenge 8

Fights Announced

The NAAFS is returning to Chapparell's in Akron, OH for the second time in as many months on Saturday

May 23rd for Midwest Combat Challenge 8. Originally slated to take place at 356 Fighter Group, zoning

issues with the Akron Canton Airport have forced a change in venue and this show will now be taking place

at Chapparell's in Akron, OH. This event promises to be another exciting night of NAAFS action, just weeks

before the highly anticipated Fight Nite in the Flats V fight card.

The confirmed main event will be a National Amateur Light Heavyweight division fight pitting Edwin Cruz (2-1)

of Rising Dragon Fight Team against Instigator Fight Team's Larry Shuck (5-1). Although he has competed

previously in the Heavyweight division, Shuck now makes the move to Light Heavyweight division looking to

make his mark. Cruz enter this fight looking to establish himself as the man to beat and will no doubt be

ready for battle, especially training under the likes of Tiawon Howard at Rising Dragon who is preparing for

his main event fight against Forrest Petz at Fight Nite in the Flats V.

One of the most colorful fighters in the National Amateur Featherweight division returns to action when Aaron

"Hamburglar" Bartow (3-0) of Instigator Fight Team returns to action against Akron's own Ben "The Slayer"

Sayer (3-1) of Pain Headquarters. The winner of this fight will put himself into the mix of what is quickly

becoming a very crowded National Amateur Featherweight division.

away from the NAAFS' showcase event of the year. The fight card continues to take shape for what promises

to be the best NAAFS event to date. Already announced for in the main event will be 2006 NAAFS National

Amateur Middleweight Champion & EliteXC veteran Tiawon "The Iron Dragon" Howard taking on 5-time UFC

veteran "The Meat Cleaver" Forrest Petz. In addition, UFC veteran Ryan "The Lion" Madigan takes on former

Pro Series Middleweight Champion Mitch Whitesel for the Pro Series Welterweight title and Pro Series

Middleweight Champion Sean Salmon defends his title against WEC veteran Allan Weickert.

In another featured Pro Series Welterweight fight, 2007 National Amateur Middleweight Champion Nick "The

Savage" Duell will be facing off against Micah Bender. Duell has been a mainstay in the NAAFS, while

Nite in the Flats V.

In honor of Fight Nite in the Flats, this weeks Fight of the Week video is a flashback to Fight Nite in the Flats

IV featuring Nick Sorg taking on current star of Spike TV's Ultimate Fighter Jason "Dynamite" Dent for the
