Firelake Grand Casino

Shawnee, Oklahoma

- Special Thanks go out to Anthony J. Sullivan for the following recap & results:

Firelake Grand Casino played host to N-D-N Promotions Freestyle Cage Fighting this past Saturday - The

casino is brand new and has only been open for about three weeks. The sold out event, with about 1,500

people, enjoyed nine action packed bouts along with special guests - UFC heavyweight champion Tim

Sylvia and former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin (who looked good after his recent nasal

surgery). UFC veteran David Heath worked as a referee (and a judge) in bouts one, seven and nine. This

event launched Freestyle Cage Fighting as the premiere MMA promotion in Oklahoma. And even though

most of the matches were quick, the matchmaker Jason Nicholson showed he is the best in the region by

putting together a solid card once again.

Fight 1 - 3x3min

Craig Cobb wins by second round TKO (cut) over Danny Bull

Craig Cobb - 181.5 lbs., now 3-0, from Marlow, Oklahoma defeated the 181.5 lb., now 0-1 Danny Bull of

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the second round by referee stoppage due to a cut. Cobb looked like a caged

lion and came out on fire with a big kick. They battled on their feet before Cobb gained side control, then top

mount landing some big punches. Bull was able to neutralize him from the bottom with a good guard before

Cobb locked up his arm. With the arm locked, Cobb landed some thunderous rights to his downed

opponents face. In the second round, Cobb came out again dominating - eventually taking Bull to the mat

with a huge belly-to-back suplex. After some good punches by Cobb, The ref (Heath) stopped the fight for

the ringside doctors to take a look at Bull. The doctors stopped the bout as Bull was covered in blood.

Cobb looked like an unbeatable monster in this bout while Bull showed tremendous heart taking the

punishment he did.

Fight 2 - 3x3min

Ryan McClain wins by first round submission (rear naked choke) over Chet Lauchner

Ryan McClain (Absolute Combat Alliance) - 203 lbs., now 4-2, from Tulsa, Oklahoma defeated the

215 lb., now 0-2 Chet Lauchner of Vinita, Oklahoma in under a minute of the first round by rear naked choke.

At the start of the bout, McClain landed a kick to the head, then landed a big right to the chin of Lauchner -

Lauchner fell to the ground and McClain jumped on his back securing the choke. McClain has changed his

look since the last time I saw him as he has slimmed down from 230 lbs. - I have always felt that McClain is

someone to watch for and the new slimmed down version is even faster and more talented.

Fight 3 - 3x3min

Chase Stalcup wins by first round submission (triangle choke) over Shawn Fitzsimmons

Crowd favorite Chase Stalcup - 169 lbs., now 1-0, of Norman, Oklahoma defeated the 165 lb. and now 1-1

Shawn Fitzsimmons of Ft. Smith, Arkansas in the first round by a triangle choke. Chase rushed him at the

start, firing off punches. After getting him onto the cage, he was able to take the back of Fitzsimmons.

Stalcup was unable to get the the rear naked choke he was trying for - he was reversed and Fitzsimmons

took top mount. Fitzsimmons landed some great elbows form the top mount position but Chase locked in

the triangle (out of nowhere) from the bottom position. Chase is one to watch in the future after looking good

in his debut fight.

Fight 4 - 3x3min

Joe Christopher wins by first round submission (guillotine choke) over Travis Fowler

Joe Christopher - 181 lbs., now 2-1, of Dallas, Texas defeated the 177lb. and now 6-4 Travis Fowler of

Tecumesh, Oklahoma in the first round with a guillotine choke - one second away from the bell to end the

round. Fowler came out looking for the knockout throwing heavy punches. They hooked up for a bit with both

trying to gain an advantage in position. Fowler sunk in a standing guillotine with the crowd yelling for him to

throw knees. He listened to the crowd and landed some big knees to the body. Christopher showed his

talent as he survived the earlier submission attempt and sunk in the choke right at the bell. A great bout.

Fowler was the crowd favorite while Christopher was booed just because he was from Texas.

Fight 5 - 3x3min

Mike Jackson wins by first round submission (arm bar) over Joseph Lee

Mike Jackson - 171 lbs., now 3-1, of Norman, Oklahoma defeated the 161 lb. kickboxer Joseph Lee

of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the first round by arm bar. Lee came out in a weird side stance before he

was taken to the ground. Lee show tremendous flexibility on the ground but was eventually caught in an

arm bar in a quick bout. Lee told me he took this fight on three days notice.

Fight 6 - 3x3min

Jason Maxwell wins by second round TKO (strikes) over Roy Silvas

Jason Maxwell - 154 lbs. (announced as being 10-4) from Wichita Falls, Texas defeated the 155 lb. Roy

Silvas (announced as being 6-3) of Waco, Texas in the second round by TKO due to strikes. Maxwell

won the initial scramble - taking the top mount position. After a lack of action, they were stood up and

Maxwell landed a great high kick. Maxwell then took Silvas down after landing a big punch. When the match

was on the ground, the bout was very even. In the second round, Maxwell wrapped up with him again before

taking the match to the mat. Maxwell landed some big knees to the body while on the ground in side control.

Maxwell then landed some huge shots - Turning Silvas into a bloody mess for the win.

Fight 7 - 3x3min

Ken Jackson wins by first round submission (rear naked choke) over Danny Grass

Ken Jackson - 176.5 lbs., now 3-0, of Norman, Oklahoma defeated the 178.5 lb. and now 0-1 Danny Grass

of Salina, Oklahoma in the first round by rear naked choke. Jackson took him down with a huge shot in. On

the ground, Jackson took his back - landing vicious shots to the head while looking for the rear naked choke.

Grass was still in the bout - looking for an ankle lock from the bottom. Jackson eventually softened him up

enough to sink in the choke. The two Jackson brothers (Ken & Mike) are both great talents and once again

looked impressive in their wins. I believe they are twins as they both look exactly alike. They are tall guys

in tremendous shape fighting out of Titan Martial Arts.

Fight 8 - 3x3min

Matt Grice wins by first round knockout over Jason Anderson

Matt Grice - 155 lbs., now 8-0, from Harrah, Oklahoma defeated the 163 lb. and now 2-7 Jason Anderson

of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma seconds into the first round with a knockout from a high kick. Not much to

this bout as they danced around a bit, then Grice hit him with the sick standing head kick, knocking out

Anderson cold. Anderson was out and tapping the mat for a few minutes after the bout as he didn't know

what happened.

Fight 9 - Main Event: FCF 145 lb Title Bout (3x5min)

Eric Payne wins by first round submission (triangle choke) over Daniel Sullivan

Eric Payne - 144.5 lbs., 13-6, from Wichita, Kansas defeated the 144.5 lb. and now 6-2 Daniel Sullivan

of Bristow, Oklahoma in the first round with a triangle choke. These two came out landing good punches on

each other until the bout hit the ground where Payne gained control taking top mount. Payne reversed the

position and sunk in the triangle from the bottom for the win. Sullivan tapped before passing out completely

but was fine after the bout. Payne was presented the championship belt by Tim Sylvia and Rich Franklin.
