On Sunday the international superstars of the muaythai scene met in honor of the birthday of Thai King

Bhumibol for the Grand Final of the Kings Cup Final Challenge 2010 in Bangkok. The Thai national hero

and superstar of the Muay Thai scene, Yodsaenklai won the title. He beat out last year's winner Cosmo

Alexandre from Brazil in a close final. He left his full-bodied notice, the title after a year back in the

motherland of the sport, to action and snatched Cosmo Alexandre the crown with a victory on points.

Also competing was the German contestant Alexander Vogel from Duisburg. Against all odds the 26-year

old IKBO World and European champion in Thai boxing could make its quarter-final battle against the

Chinese Yan Xu victorious. In the semifinals he had to give in to the great experience of Cosmo Alexandre.

“It was a big honour to be part of this awesome and unique event.” The experts agreed: Alex Vogel was a

worthy representative of muaythai in Germany. "He did a really great job in the ring. Yan Xu was close to

be knocked out by Alex”, attested Stephen Fox the World Association of WMC.

Over 300,000 people celebrated the birthday of the king with the traditional Kings Cup Candle Ceremony,

which illuminated the night sky of Bangkok. Benjamin Aebischer, Managing Director of Blackhawk Sports

AG summed up the night: “The Kings Cup is a really special event. The setup and the atmosphere in

Bangkok are unique. We would like to sincerely congratulate Yodsanklai to his big victory. But also we

want to congratulate Alex to his big achievement.”
