Master of the Cage 1 Results June 24, 2006 Cowboy Sharkies Downtown 520 E 3rd Street Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Special Thanks go out to Anthony J. Sullivan for the following results:
All bouts were three rounds (three minutes each round). Fight 1 - 155 lb. Bout Chris Bowels wins by first round submission (rear naked choke) over Clint Connelly Bowels won in under a minute over the debuting street fighter Connelly - Connelly rushed in landing a few blows before he lost the bout.
Fight 2 - 145 lb. Bout Brandon Shelton wins by first round submission (arm bar) over Mark Newcomb Shelton upped his record to 4-0 with the submission win in a very competitive bout against the debuting Newcomb - Newcomb showed tremendous skill but Shelton is an absolute monster - Shelton is a fighter to watch for as he has great stand-up, transitions quickly from one submission to another and has a great clean look for such a small guy - He is also young and if he is this good at this stage of his career, I can't wait to see him a couple of years from now.
Fight 3 - 169 lb. Bout Jeff Davis wins by first round submission (guillotine choke) over Jason Anderson Davis upped his record to 2-0 with the first round sub over the now 0-4 Anderson.
Fight 4 - 185 lb. Bout Derek Harris wins by first round submission (arm bar) over Chance Fine Harris won his first pro bout (bringing his record to 1-1) over the debuting Fine - Harris rode his back forever before sinking in the hold.
Fight 5 - 185 lb. Bout Clint Bonds wins by first round submission (guillotine choke) over Chester Lockner Bonds wins his first pro bout (bringing his record to 1-5) over the debuting Lockner - Lockner did very well in his debut before making a simple mistake. I've usually not a fan of Bonds but he seems to have greatly improved - Lockner exploded early with punches before he was caught in the choke - His mistake was when Bonds had the choke with his back to the mat and Lockner tried to flip out of it backwards causing the choke to go in deeper. He was in a position with his own back facing the mat when he tried to get out. He was choked unconscious. This was an excellent bout.
Fight 6 - 169 lb. Bout Wayne McGloun wins by first round submission (arm bar) over Matthew Clearly McGloun won with an arm bar from the bottom against Clearly who drops to 0-2. McGloun weighed 161 lbs. while Clearly weighed 169 lbs.
Fight 7 - 185 lb. Bout Chad Jay wins by first round TKO (strikes) over Adam DeRossite The 183 lb. Jay won his pro debut with a ref stoppage due to strike from the mount against fellow debuter DeRossite. Jay had an amateur record of 4-2 coming in while DeRossite had an amateur record of 0-1.
Fight 8 - 145 lb. Bout Brandon Shelton wins by first round submission (arm bar) over Chris Bowles Shelton won his second match of the night with a first round arm bar against Bowles, also in his second match of the night - Shelton once again looked like money in this match and is definitely a fighter to watch for - Shelton now has a record of 5-0.
Fight 9 - 185 lb. Bout Brian Picklo wins by first round submission (rear naked choke) over Tony Russell Picklo upped his record to 2-1 with the sub win over the now 0-3 Russell. This bout was scheduled to be in the 185 lb. division but they announced Picklo as weighing 200 lbs. The bout was held up for awhile as Russell had to go back to the dressing room as he forgot to put in his cup(!!!!). This was a brutal beating for Russell as he did just about nothing but take many punches.
Fight 10 - 220 lb. Bout Thomas Anderson wins by third round TKO (strikes) over Ronald Stackhouse Anderson won his pro debut (he had an 0-3 amateur record coming in) with a third round ref stoppage due to strikes against the now 1-1 Stackhouse. This was an odd bout as there was about a 10 minute break between rounds one and two when the outside lighting went out. They wouldn't start the bout until the lights were fixed. This break helped out Stackhouse greatly as he was taking a major beating in round one.
