Vale-Tudo: A High level sport
Vale-Tudo is a kind of combat sport originally developed in Brazil which is the fastest-growing style in the

world of martial arts. Vale-Tudo was created by the Gracie family challenging other styles to prove Jiu Jitsu’s

effectiveness. The Gracies learned and improved Jiu Jitsu, making it a family legacy. The Gracie name will

always mean Jiu Jitsu.

After Jiu Jitsu fighters defeated most of their opponents in Vale-Tudo events in Brazil, Master Helio Gracie’s

oldest son, Rorion, decided to take Jiu Jitsu and Vale-Tudo to the United States. With a new format, rules

and an octagonal ring, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was created in 1993, impressing everyone

as new professional combat sport. Royce Gracie was the undefeated champion in a time where the

confrontation of different styles was used to prove the efficiency of Jiu Jitsu.

With UFC’s success, it did not take long before other countries had similar events. From then on, Vale-Tudo

started to be known as Mixed Martial Art. This new denomination is a simple and objective way of explaining

the essence of the new sport. Jiu Jitsu’s countless wins in the MMA events, followed by the Brazilian Muay

Thai fighters from Chute Boxe Team out of Curitiba in the world’s most prestigious events have turned Brazil

into a factory of champions!

Vale-Tudo/MMA events have multiplied and become extremely professional. Nowadays, it’s impossible to

know how many events there are in the world. The events are no longer a confrontation between styles, they

are now a confrontation between well-round and well-prepared fighters.

Achieving results
Fighters are always searching ways to get positive results in order to have a successful career. The evolution

of Vale-Tudo/MMA has opened doors for many sports professionals to have a participation in the preparation

Tudo, such as technical training, conditioning, psychological preparation and sports medicine among others.
