Remembrance

Charles "Mask" Lewis Jr.

I met Charles "Mask" Lewis about nine years ago - my jujitsu instructor, Rick Lucero, introduced me to

him after a work out...we talked for a while even though Charles was in a hurry and had a lot to do that day...

but even so, he took some time and just kicked it with us - we talked about fighters, events, promotions and

his clothing line...and this was way back when he was trying to grow his company - TAPOUT - and as we all

know, it sure did grow.

I remember when we would go to events and we would see the TAPOUT crew on the corners selling their

clothes...yes, on the corners before they were allowed in the events....and they were selling their clothes out

of their vehicles. Charles was always cool with me....every time we would see each other at an event, he

would come up and say what’s up.

I remember one time I took my son Alex to King of the Cage....he was about 11 years old at the time, when

all of the sudden we saw Charles and the crew run across right in front of us.....my son got scared.... I guess

at 11 years of age and you see Charles, Skyscrape, Punk Ass and I believe it was also Joker running right in

front of you, I guess that’s a good enough reason to get a bit scared.....but when we saw Charles and the

crew a bit later,  I introduced my son to them.....and like always, they were really cool. From that moment

on, my son became a fan of TAPOUT

And as TAPOUT grew, Charles and the guys still stayed the same....at least with me and what I saw of

them.....always looking for fighters to help and support with sponsorship....there is so much I can say about

Charles that it would take too long to mention everything but for those who knew him, you know what I'm

saying.....and for those who didn’t get to know him, just take this with you - Charles was a funny,

charismatic and great person who helped many MMA fighters through rough times with sponsorships when

there wasn’t many sponsors for our great sport of MMA...and who started a company from nothing to

become one of the leading, if not the leading, MMA clothing line in the world.

Charles we will all miss you.
