On July 18th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25 KOs), formally

recognized as pound-for-pound the best fighter in boxing, will be coming out of a short lived retirement to face

lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (50-4-1, 37 KOs) in a catchweight bout (within the

welterweight division) on a HBO Boxing PPV card.

 

Jr. Middleweight Bout (4 Rds)

Erislandy Lara (5-0, 3 KOs) wins a unanimous decision over Chris Gray (11-8, 1 KO) - Judges scored the

bout 40-36, 40-36, 40-36 for Lara.

 

Middleweight Bout (4 Rds)

Matvey Korobov (5-0, 5 KOs) wins by TKO at 2:15 of the 2nd rd over Anthony Bartinelli (20-13-2, 13 KOs)

In the second round, Bartinelli downed by a straight left ()...the fight resumed and eventually, Korobov

overwhelmed Bartinelli with punches in a corner and the ref had seen enough and stopped the bout.

 

Super Middleweight Bout (8 Rds)

Daniel Jacobs (16-0, 14 KOs) wins a unanimous decision over Michael Walker (19-2-2, 12 KOs) - Judges

scored the bout 80-72, 80-72, 79-73 for Jacobs.

 

WBC Super Featherweight Title Bout (12 Rds)

Humberto Soto (48-7-2, 31 KOs) wins by TKO at 2:25 of the 9th rd over Benoit Gaudet (20-2, 7 KOs)

In the first round, Gaudet downed with a left hook as he was moving back (up right away). In the ninth round,

Gaudet downed with a right uppercut (up at the count of eight)......the fight resumed and Soto stalked

Gaudet until he finally landed a left, right combo that sent Gaudet falling against the ropes...and as Soto

came in with a left, Gaudet fell to the canvas as the ref was jumping in to stop the bout.

 

IBO & RING Magazine Jr. Welterweight Title Bout (12 Rds)

Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs) wins by KO at 2:59 of the 2nd rd over Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KOs)

In the first round, Hatton downed with a right hook (up at the count of eight)...the fight resumed and after a

brief exchange, Hatton went down from a straight left (up at the count of eight). At the end of the second

round, Pacquiao caught Hatton with a left hook that put Hatton down and out.
