Middleweight Bout (10 Rds) Jermain Taylor (23-0, 17 KOs) wins by TKO at 2:26 of the third round over Daniel Edouard (16-1-2, 9 KOs)
Rd -1 & 2 Edouard and Taylor exchanged blows in round one but in round two, half-away through the round, Taylor stunned Edouard and Edouard hung on until the bell.
Rd 3 - Edouard coming back at Taylor - Taylor works the left to the body - Edouard lands a left hook - as they clinch, Edouard lands overhand right - Taylor using his jab - Edouard comes in punching - Taylor lands a straight jab and a straight right punch - Edouard staggered - Taylor punching away as Edouard backs into the corner - Taylor punching away - Ref steps in and stop the fight.
Undisputed Middleweight Title Bout (12 Rds) Bernard Hopkins (46-2-1, 32 KOs) wins by unanimous decision over Howard Eastman (40-2, 34 KOs) - Judges scored the bout: 119-110, 117-111, 116-112 - Hopkins retains title
Rd 1 Both come out to center of the ring - Eastman throws jab to the body and then top the top and misses - Taylor just circling - Eastman tries to work his jab - Both still in the center measuring each other - Hopkins starts to use his jab and comes in with a body shot - Both just circling - Eastman working his jab but not really connecting - Both still in the center - Both look to be measuring each other - they clinch and get separated - crowd starting to boo - Hopkins comes in and pushes Eastman to the corner, Eastman pushing Hopkins head down - Hopkins throws a few punches and one of them lands low - They get separated and Bell rings
Rd 2 Both come out to center of the ring - Eastman working the jab - they clinch - Eastman comes in with a left hook and then an uppercut - Eastman more aggressive - Hopkins just moves away - Eastman lands a few body punches - Hopkins lands a counter over Eastman's jab - Eastman pushing forward as Hopkins circles - Eastman pushes Hopkins to the corner, they clinch - get separated - Hopkins misses with a combo - Hopkins now starts to run around in the ring - crowd boos a little - Eastman still pushing the fight - Bell Rings
Rd 3 Eastman comes forward - throws a couple of body punches that land - Hopkins lands his own punch - Hopkins lands a short right to the face of Eastman, no damage - Eastman pushing the fight - Hopkins just circling - Eastman still pushing the fight - Eastman working the jab as he moves forward - Hopkins lands a leaping left hook, no damage - Hopkins throws a right jab but misses - they clinch and ref breaks them up - Eastman doing a better job at cutting off the ring - Hopkins ties up as he is cornered - Doesn't look like Hopkins wants to fight - Bell Rings
Rd 4 Eastman right away comes out with a left hook but misses - Eastman pushing the fight but as he comes in, Hopkins ties him up - Hopkins lands a right but Eastman doesn't flinch - Eastman comes back with his own counters - Eastman lands a straight left, after a short exchange, no damage - Hopkins lands a left to the body - Eastman still is coming forward - Hopkins just starts to circle - crowd getting restless - Eastman tries to cut off ring - Eastman lands a straight right, no damage - Hopkins comes in and lands a left and then another but no damage - Eastman still coming forward - Bell rings
Rd 5 Eastman comes out throwing the jab - lands a few before being toed up by Hopkins - Eastman lands a few more punches - Eastman pushing Hopkins back - they clinch - ref warns Eastman not to punch behind the head - Eastman still pushing the fight, trying to corner Hopkins - Hopkins just pushes in and clinches - Eastman lands a couple of good lefts and right, both exchange - Hopkins got better of the exchange but Eastman still coming forward - Both exchange hooks and Hopkins motions that it didn't hurt - Bell rings
Rd 6 Eastman still the aggressor - Eastman working the jab - Hopkins tries to come in - Eastman throws a small flurry that makes Hopkins move away - Hopkins throws overhand right that lands on the shoulder - Eastman comes in and Hopkins lands a good uppercut, no damage - Hopkins lands a straight jab - Eastman still moving forward - Hopkins back peddling - Both fighters in center of the ring, circling - Hopkins tries a left hook but it's blocked - Hopkins lands a straight right and an uppercut as they clinch - Bell rings
Rd 7 Eastman moving forward - Eastman lands a body shot on Hopkins, no damage - Eastman lands a straight right - Hopkins lands a left hook, no damage - Eastman moving forward - Eastman backing Hopkins to the right - Eastman lands a combo but does no damage - Eastman lands another combo but Hopkins counters with a straight right - Hopkins landing more punches - both circling in the center - Eastman pushes Hopkins to the ropes - Eastman lands a few body punches - Bell rings
Rd 8 Eastman comes forward - Hopkins throwing punches but none really landing - Hopkins lands a straight right hand - Hopkins lands a few overhand rights - Hopkins pushes Eastman to the ropes - Eastman ties Hopkins up - they get separated - Eastman back on the offensive - Eastman lands a couple of left hooks - Hopkins just smiles - Eastman lands a few more punches - Hopkins still smiles - Eastman lands a good body shot - Hopkins responds with his own combo - They exchange blows as the bell rings - Hopkins kept punching after the bell rung sand gets a stern warning from the referee
Rd 9 Ref calls time, too much Vaseline on Eastman - Eastman comes in and they clinch - Hopkins lands a straight left - both fighters exchange lefts - Hopkins lands another hard left but Eastman keeps coming forward - Eastman still pushing forward as Hopkins moves around the ring - they clinch - Eastman lands a few punches in the clinch - Eastman working the jab - Hopkins counters - Eastman still moving forward - Hopkins lands a hard right hand - Looks like it stunned Eastman but Eastman still moves forward - Eastman lands a hard left hook as the bell rang
Rd 10 Eastman comes in and lands a combo - Hopkins counters with a left - Hopkins lands a good left hook, no damage - Hopkins lands a straight right - Hopkins misses with the right - Eastman still moving forward - Both fighters throwing punches but not landing - Hopkins comes in and Eastman lands an uppercut - Hopkins now tries to push the fight forward but Eastman counters and lands an overhand right at the end of the round
Rd 11 Hopkins comes in and tries to land a left hook - Eastman still comes forward but not really landing any punches - Hopkins lands a couple of left hooks - Hopkins lands another left hook - Hopkins looks like he found his range for the left hook - Eastman still coming forward - Hopkins countering - neither landing much - Looks like Hopkins is trying to load up on left hook - Hopkins lands a left hook off the ropes, no damage - Eastman still coming forward with the jab, trying to measure Hopkins - Hopkins just moving away - Bell rings
Rd 12 Both fighters come out punching and they clinch - they exchange punches, no damage - Hopkins throws three to four punches that are blocked - Hopkins lands a left hook but Eastman still comes forward - Hopkins lands another left hook and then a right, no damage - Eastman moving forward as Hopkins shows lateral movement - Eastman lands hook to the face of Hopkins, no damage - Eastman lands a short left to the body and comes back with a right to the face - Hopkins counters with a body shot - Hopkins just bouncing around the ring - crowd getting restless - Hopkins lands a good straight right as Eastman moves forward - they circle - Hopkins lands a decent jab as the bell rang.
In post fight interview: - Hopkins said he gave Eastman a B- - When asked about Jermain Taylor, he said he would fight him if that is what the fans, HBO, etc.. want
