Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino

Las Vegas, Nevada

Super Lightweight Bout (10 Rds)

Victor Ortiz (28-2-2, 22 KOs) and Lamont Peterson (28-1-1, 14 KOs) battled to a majority draw. Judges

scored the bout 95-93 Peterson, 94-94, 94-94 a draw - Peterson receives early Christmas gift. In the second

round, Peterson downed twice.

WBA Super Lightweight Title Bout (12 Rds)

Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KOs) wins a unanimous decision over Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KOs) - Judges

scored the bout 113-112, 114-111, 114-111 for Khan - Khan retains title and becomes outright champion (by

defeating the interim champion Maidana). Towards the very end of the first round, Maidana downed with a

vicious left to the body. While most boxers would have probably stayed downed, Maidana managed to get up

and gutted out the last 10 seconds of the round. Maidana protected his right side in the second round and

made a fight of it the remainder of the bout. In the fifth round, Maidana was penalized a point for throwing an

elbow at the break (looked like it hit the ref). In the 10th round, Maidana was able to hurt Khan and put him

on rubber legs but Maidana looked to have punched himself out and Khan gutted out the round and came

back well in the 11th. Both fighters showed tremendous heart.
