WBO Lightweight Title Bout (12 Rds)

Joel Casamayor (36-3-1, 22 KOs) wins by TKO at :30 of the 10th rd over Michael Katsidis (23-1, 20 KOs)

In the first round, Katsidis downed twice - the first time from a left (up right away) and the second time from a

straight left (up right way). In the sixth round, Casamayor was stunned by a left to the body and a short left

hook, then Katsidis landed a couple of rights that sent Casamayor through the ropes and out of the ring -

Casamayor came back inside the ring at the count of seven and finished the last 15 seconds of the round. In

the ninth round, Casamayor penalized a point for a low blow. In the 10th round, Katsidis downed from a left

hook (up right away with the help of the ropes) - the fight resumed and Casamayor peppered him with

punches and the ref had seen enough and stopped the bout. Casamayor wins interim title from Katsidis (and

also retains his Ring Magazine title).
