Marcos Rene Maidana (26-1, 25 KOs) wins by TKO at :46 of the 6th rd over Victor Ortiz (24-2-1, 19 KOs)

In the first round, Miadana downed with a short right hook (up right away)...the fight resumed and Maidana

quickly put Ortiz on his seat with a straight right (up right away). Toward the end of the second round,

Maidana downed with a right hook (up right away)....the fight resumed and after a brief exchange, Ortiz sent

Maidana to a knee with a right hook again (up right away). In the sixth round, Ortiz downed with a left to the

body (up right away) - after the ref finished counting to five and asking Ortiz how he was, Ortiz looked to be

walking away, shaking his head like he didn't want to continue but the ref walked Ortiz over to the doctor

instead to have a cut above his right eye checked and the doctor said to stop the bout (Ortiz also had his left

eye swollen). Maidana wins interim title.
