Glory Part 9 July 6, 2008 The TRIAVIUM Nijmegen, Holland
On Sunday July 6, 2008, the biggest MMA organization of Holland "GLORY" will slide into the Ice hockey stadium of Nijmegen Holland: the TRIAVIUM.
The show will be a mixture of Professional Shooto and K-1 style matches. With 14 A Class matches it will be a busy but also a very exciting show. Fighters from Belgium, England, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Rumania, Portugal and Holland will battle that evening. With 10 Golden Glory fighters on the card, we guarantee fireworks.
The M-1 World Champion and Pride veteran Fatih "The Turkish Terror" Kocamis will return to the ring after a 2 and 1/2 year break. The fighter of the famous Golden Glory Team is back to stay! Kocamis: "I decided to take a break after a disappointing decision loss to Kevin Randleman". "For a while it was hard to motivate myself as I suffered some injuries along the way, but my teammates always kept faith in me and supported me all the way". "For this fight, I have been training hard for the past 6 months and I am ready again to fight anybody in the world"!
Fatih Kocamis will face the biggest BJJ and MMA talent of Holland: Hans Stringer. The 20 years old Stringer is working on his striking with former K-1 MAX World Champion Albert Kraus. Hans Stringer is a youngster with great ground skills combined with though Muay Thai kicks and knees.
In this match you will see an experienced and determined bear taking on a young and hungry lion!
In the main event, the current Cage Rage champion Paul Cahoon will take on UFC fighter Tomasz Drwal from Poland. Cahoon an UK Golden Glory fighter is on a winning streak since 2005. He defeated Elvis Sinosic to capture the Cage Rage World Title in December 2007.
Tomasz Drwal with a 14-2-0 record was undefeated since 2004 only to lose by TKO to Brazilian UFC superstar Thiago Silva in UFC 75. Tomasz changed teams and started to train Muay Thai in Holland to improve his stand up game and is more hungry than ever!
GLORY promoter Martijn de Jong: "This fight will get everybody out of their seats as nonstop action is guaranteed, both guys will come out and start swinging for the fences, no doubt about it"! "The fight is scheduled for 3 five minute rounds but you'd better not blink as the fight can be over every second"!
