German Top Team News
In the past weeks the German Top Team (www.german-top-team.com) had several occasions to celebrate:
1. Three new Professionals in the GTT! Over the past weeks the GTT recruited some very solid Champions to join Germany's strongest fight team. Frank Stäblein, member of the Suum Cuique Mainz (www.grappling-mainz.de), one of Germanys best Grappling teams, who recently won the German Championships "Heat FC" in Submission Wrestling, joined the GTT. Frank was a five time German Champion in Olympic Greco-Roman Wrestling and a Military Vice World Champion with more than 1.200 fights in his record. A real stunner joined the GTT! As well as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt Peter Schira (www.peter-bjj.de) from Cologne, who recently won his first tournament in the blackbelt division in Rio de Jaineiro, when he was coached and prepared by no other than Grandmaster Rolker Gracie. Peter is one of the few Blackbelts in BJJ in Germany and one of the pioneers in this sport in our country with a high international reputation. And last but not least the European BJJ Champion Jörg "Marshmallow" Lothmann, who has not only won the European title in 2006 in the Seniors division, but who also finished with Silver at the Masters in Brazil in the same year. The brownbelt from Prüm weights massive 120 kg and is a real killer on the mat, despite of his age.
2. Seminars with some of Brazil's finest experts! In the past weeks and month the GTT and its affiliated gyms hosted seminars with some worldclass BJJ professors. Vice World Champion Augusto Ferrari, Grandmaster Rolker Gracie and Rio Heroes Veteran Isaias Santos teached the newest techniques of Brazil's hot competion circuit to the dedicated students of the GTT. During his seminar tour in Germany Rolker Gracie officially awarded Peter Schira with the Blackbelt and currently the GTT has several fighters, who currently prepare to fight in BJJ tournaments all over Europe and the World:
- Peter Schira, Blackbelt - Franco "Ortega" de Leonardis, Brownbelt - Daniel "Rednose" Ackerman, Brownbelt - Jörg "Marshmallow" Lothmann, Brownbelt - Peter "Yamatodamashii" Angerer, Bluebelt (3 Stripes) - Daniel "Hijikata" Schöb, Bluebelt - Max "Maximus" Schmied, Bluebelt
3. The GTT opens its own Shop! Tudo (www.germanvaletudo.de) is the new platform for MMA and Grappling in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Beside this gigantic step the GTT also opened its own online store for official merchandise with the German Top Team Shop. Fans and Fighters can order T-Shirts, Sweaters and Jackets of the GTT with the official logo of the Team. We would appreciate it when you visit our shop and maybe you would send us some feedback at angerer@german-top-team.com.
4. GTT's stars launched official personal pages on mySpace! Franco "Ortega" de Leonardis and Peter "Yamatodamashii" Angerer are for sure the most experienced and successful fighters of the GTT. Ortega has fought for the World Title in the prestigious UK MMA Label "Cagewarriors" against BTT's Alexandre Izidro. He also fougth Marcelo "Bocao" Fereira of the BTT twice and is the current SHIDO MMA Lightweight Champion, after he defeated Brazil's Rivano Regiz at "Fists of Fury 4: Rebirth!" (www.fists-of-fury.com) last year in Stuttgart. Yamatodamashii is known as the "Godfather of German MMA" and in his long carreer he has fought the likes of K1 Champion Sam Schildt, BJJ World Champion Marcio Feitosa and UFC Veteran Shonie "Mr. International" Carter, as well as many many more. As a competitor of the ADCC World Championships 2001 and the Ultimate Submission Showdown of the Gracie Family 2003, the former SHIDO MMA Welterweight Champion has fought for Worldtitles (single fights and tournaments) at Cagewarriors, FX 3, Ultimate Warrior Challenge and Ultimate Combat.
Both fighters have now launched their official personal sites at mySpace and share videos and pictures with their fans.
