Heavyweight Bout (8 Rds)

Alonzo Butler (24-0-1, 18 KOs) wins a unanimous decision over Maurice Wheeler (11-7-1, 1 KO) -

Judges scored the bout 80-68, 80-69, 80-68 for Butler. During the first round, Wheel turned Butler around

and was walking him to the corner and as Butler turned to face Wheeler, the ref stepped in to separate

them - as the ref began to separate them, Butler threw and landed a right that put Wheeler down - Wheeler

got right back up smiling but the ref counted the knockdown. In the second round, Wheeler was a penalized

a point for an intentional head-butt. In the third round, Wheeler fell back and onto the bottom two ropes after

a Butler straight right hand and was given an eight count. In the fifth round, Wheeler was penalized another

point for an intentional head-butt (was warned with one more head-butt, he would be disqualified).

Light Heavyweight Bout (4 Rds)

Anthony Russell (14-1-1, 3 KOs) wins by TKO at 2:16 of the third round over Don Labbe (3-8, 2 KOs)

In the third round, Russell landed an uppercut, then followed up with two good shots and the ref stepped in

and stop the bout (first two rounds were one-sided for Russell) to the displeasure of Labbe.

Trans America Jr. Middleweight Title Bout (12 Rds)

Verno Phillips (40-10-1, 21 KOs) wins by TKO at 2:40 of the 12th round over Teddy Reid (23-8-2, 17 KOs)

In the ninth round, Reid went to his knees from a left hook to the body - Reid was also penalized a point for

spitting out his mouthpiece to get extra time to recoup. In the 12th round, Reid got tagged with a short left,

then a right hand, looked hurt and the ref jumped in and stopped the bout (Reid took punishment throughout

the fight).
