Live Contender Bouts On ESPN & ESPN Classic October 16

 

In a special complement to ESPN’s on-going The Contender series (Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET), Alfonso S

Gomez (17-3-2, 8 KO), a fan favorite from the series’ inaugural season and  who recently sent Arturo Gatti

into retirement, will fight Ben Tackie (29-7-1, 17 KO) in the main event of The Contender: No Turning Back

live on ESPN Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 10 p.m.

 

Also on the fight card that night – televised on ESPN Classic at 9 p.m. in  that network’s first-ever live

professional fight – Contender season one champion Sergio Mora (19-0-0, 4 KO) against Elvin Ayala

(18-2-0, 8 KO).   In addition, another Contender alum, Freddy Curiel (17-6-2, 17 KO), will take on Fonaine

Cabell (22-7-2, 17 KO).  Rounding out the night of boxing will be undercard matchups with Craig McEwans

(7-0, 6 KO) facing Richard Pierson (4-1, 2 KO) and Leon Green (4-1, 1 KO) fighting Arthur Brambilla

(9-10, 4 KO).   

 

Joe Tessitore of ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights will call the action from The Home Depot Center in Los

Angeles with analyst Teddy Atlas
