CFC III / MMA & Muay Thai

Updated card

May 28, 2005

Corona Plaza Hotel

Rosarito Beach, Baja - Mexico

“Corona Plaza Hotel” in Rosarito Beach will host CFC’s third and latest production to include, for its first

time, a combined card of both MMA and Muay Thai (K-1 rules) fights.

Featured bouts will pit some of the most exciting fighters from both sides of the border.

Confirmed this last week leading to Memorial Day weekend in Rosarito, recently crowned Total Combat

champion Alex Garcia (Reto Maximo veteran fighting out of Brawley Combat Club and beating Lion’s Den

KOTC champion Joe Hurley in his last outing) will face Stacy Hakes (Reto Maximo and XCF veteran

fighting out of American Freestyle Fighting in Arizona) in the main event (MMA bout) of the night. Stacy has

gained a solid reputation for fighting the toughest competition in his class including Ray Steinbeiss, Mike

Seal, and Edwin Aguilar.

Fernando Hernandez, trained by his uncle Pedro Pit Bull Fernandez (Mexico’s Heavyweight Muay Thai

Champion and 2X K-1 USA veteran) is rapidly establishing himself as one of Mexico’s top heavyweights. He

will face San Diego’s own sensational fighter Justin Carver fighting out of Beltran’s Boxing Zone.

Chris Lopez (representing L. A. Boxing Gym) will step up to take Mike “El Verdugo” Seal’s place (KOTC

veteran and Reto Maximo’s Super Fight Champion) against Ensenada’s champion Pedro Bio in a “No

Blinking Allowed” matchup. Seal had to be pulled from the card due to a knee injury suffered in his last

match this past weekend in Las Vegas, NV.

Angel Santibañez (Reto Maximo MMA veteran from Ensenada’s Power Gym) will follow up on his recent

victory obtaining the State of Baja Amateur Kick Boxing title, to hold his first pro Muay Thai bout versus

undefeated Gabriel Medina fighting out of  Pit Bull Gym in Tijuana.

Eric Osorio, yet another outstanding Kick Boxer out of Pit Bull’s, will face the talented Dave Penuala

representing the highly regarded LA Boxing Gym in Los Angeles, CA.

Joey Alvarado (KOTC and CFC veteran out of La Raza MMA / Machado Jiu-Jitsu) will honor his pending

matchup against another CFC veteran Tony Garcia (representing the prestigious Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu and

Chute Boxe USA camps) in Beverly Hills, CA.  Both fighters are very well rounded…expected to be among

the most exiting bouts of the night.

Chuck Costello (head of American Freestyle Fighting team in Lake Havasu, AZ) will have his second MMA

showing when he faces always game Josh Tamsen (representing Tangaloo Fight Team in Tijuana). Costello,

also a fight promoter, seems unable to stand still and decided to give it a shot stepping up to the pro fight

arena. Chuck will once again donate his purse - this time to help friend and fighter Santino De Franco, who

has recently been diagnosed with a brain aneurism.

Justin Jorgensen (out of Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu & Chute Boxe USA team) will make his MMA debut facing

John Lopez (L.A. Boxing representant) who will have his brother Chris Lopez both coaching him as well as

fighting later in the card.

Manuel Villegas (CFC veteran fighting out of local Mexico MMA team) faces promising talent in Balam

Reyes making his debut out of Temecula, CA.

Andre Galarde fighting out of San Diego MMA is also scheduled to take action in this MMA & Muay Thai

card.
