CFC IV Updated Card Submission Match just added to card!
September 3, 2005 Open air venue next to Club Iggy's Rosarito Beach, Baja - Mexico
Virgil Lozano (185 lbs.), one of the best... if not The best MMA instructor in Mexico, ex- Lion's Den pro fighter, Bronze and Silver medalist at the 2000 & 2003 World Pankration Championships in Greece, stepped up on a couple days notice to take a submission match that will be included in the Crown Fighting Championship’s card this Saturday.
Virgil was forced to interrupt his promising fighting career due to a serious knee injury suffered back in 2001. After three surgeries over this period, the last six months of rehab therapy seem to have worked and he feels it’s about time to get back into action.
“The option of a submission match just arose a couple days ago. I let him know of it Thursday evening and
he jumped
at the opportunity to do it.” - Tony Perez showing in another submission match which he took on the spot at the last Reto Maximo (VI) show in October of 2004 at the Tangaloo Club. He sports very sharp submission skills and among other mentors, credits Olaf Alonso for his ground game.
The match will be 2 X 5 minute rounds. Submission Only / No points. 2 out of 3 taps. The first to make his opponent tap twice wins. If it goes the distance, the one with a tap to his favor is the winner.
Also, Joel Luis, who was set to face Cesar Vazquez in a rematch, reported injured Thursday night and is out of the card. Alex Osante (200 lbs) out of Beyond Body Building in San Diego, is set to take Joel’s place as the alternate to make his MMA debut. This resulting matchup is yet to be confirmed but will happen most surely.
Previoulsly reported, CFC-IV will feature a set of interesting bouts including a couple rematches, to be crowned with the main event showcasing the talents of BHJJ and Chute Boxe USA warrior Tony Garcia facing wrestling sensation Alex Garcia out of Brawley Combat Club, who defeated non other than Joe Hurley (Lion’s Den and KOTC ex-champion) in his last outing. Both Garcia's, as most of the athletes that’ll see action this coming weekend’s card, have built a strong following with the fight fans of both sides of the border.
Mike Martelle is making a special trip down from Canada to make this his MMA debut.
Tickets will be available at the door. General Admission - $25.00 dollars. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and first fight will start between 8:00 and 8:30 pm allowing time for everyone to reach the venue safely given the heavy traffic and tourism expected in town on Labor Day Weekend.
Mr. Larry Landless will be the referee in charge. Don Rocco will also be refereeing a couple bouts if not matched to fight on the card. A very special thanks to Chris Brennan’s support in this last stretch leading to the event. CFC - IV is sanctioned by the State of Baja Association of Pankration Athlima.
Line-up:
Fight card and order of matches subject to change. Additional bouts to be confirmed.
