Cage Warriors Strike Force 6 UK vs. Germany All pictures were taken by Robert Swann/Cage Warriors.
May 27, 2006 Skydome Arena Coventry, England Doors Open 5.30pm - Show Starts 6.30pm
weekend and are holding another Cage Warriors “World Series” event. This time a UK based team will face off against a stacked eight man German based team, who will want to follow in the footsteps of the French and Scandinavian teams who walked away from CW Strike Force events in 2005 as the victors.
Alexandre “Xandinho” Izidro
Highlights of this show include two CWFC World Title bouts as Alexandre “Xandinho” Izidro defends his CWFC Lightweight Title against the Shooto Japan and KOTC veteran Mario Stapel from Germany. Izidro won the belt by submitting K-1 Heros veteran Jani Lax at Strike Force 3, and then defended his title at Strike Force 4 by defeating EVT 5 GP 70kg winner Thomas Hytten via a judges decision.
Paul McVeigh Neil McLeod
The other main title bout sees the young Irishman Paul McVeigh defending his CWFC Bantamweight Title against Neil McLeod who he beat back in 2003 at Extreme Brawl 3 in one of the best UK MMA bouts of all time. On that day, Paul McVeigh dramatically submitted McLeod with just 8 seconds remaining in the final round. Can he do it again on May 27th?
Isaksson vs. Gonzalez
The undercard sees an all Scandinavian “Superfight” as the CWFC Number 1 Welterweight Title Contender Arni “The Ice Viking” Isaksson (Iceland) warms up for his title clash with Forrest Petz by taking on the former title challenger Diego Gonzalez (Sweden) in what should be a classic grappler vs. striker encounter.
There is also an intriguing bout between two submission specialists as Josenildo "Luquinha" Ramarho from the Wolfslair Academy takes on the EVT 83kg GP winner Daniel Weichel. "Luquinha" is on a three fight win streak and is on top form. Whilst Weichel will want to banish the memories of his last trip to the UK when he lost on March 5th at Cage Warriors “Enter the Wolfslair.” Also watch out for the MMA debut of the world class BJJ Black Belt “Ze” Marcello.
Michael "The Count" Bisping
The main event of the evening is a special event for local fans as Barrington Patterson comes out of retirement to take on the unbeaten Polish Kickboxer Thomas Marcinkevicis in his hometown. Finally TUF 3 Star and the CWFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Michael "The Count" Bisping will be returning to the Skydome Arena as a Referee.
