- Special Thanks go out to Anthony J. Sullivan for the following results \ recap:

A crowd of around 1,600 fans enjoyed what has to be considered the Best Cage of Honor show to date.

This event showed once again that Cage Of Honor is one of the best amateur MMA promotions in the U.S..

I have seen many pro events that couldn't hold a candle to this event. Just a great evening of fights. There

were also some late changes to the card, as two fights didn't happen (Tony Linders vs. Chris Reedy &

Colby Tierney vs. Mike Glenn title fight). Colby Tierney came into the cage and told everyone he was injured

on Thursday and wouldn't be fighting. His right hand had a large cut and a ton of stitches (they said his palm

had been ripped off). All bouts were scheduled for three rounds (three minutes each round) unless noted.

Fight 1 - Heavyweight Bout

Brandon Thomure wins by TKO (strikes) at 2:36 of the second round over Zac Whiteley

Freestyle fighter Brandon Thomure went to 3-0 with a second round referee stoppage due to strikes against

the debuting Zac Whiteley. These were some big boys as Thomure was around 235 lbs. and Whiteley was

243 lbs. Whiteley didn't come out at first and the ring announcer gave him heck about it. They started out

pushing each other around. Both tried to land shots but not much happened. Thomure tried a standing

guillotine but let it go when he started getting hit by knees. The first round ended up being slow after starting

out well. These were two evenly matched fighters so they both neutralized each other. The second round

started with Whiteley looking a little gassed so Thomure came on with a flurry of punches. Whiteley was cut

after a shot giving the audience some blood and while the barrage of blows were coming, the referee stepped

in to stop it at 2:36 of the second round.

Fight 2 - 185 lb. Bout

Matt Miller wins a split decision over Earnest Freeman

Miller took his record to 2-1 with a split decision win over the now 1-1 Freeman. Both fighters had a huge

amount of the crowd cheering them on, so it made the bout feel really special. This was a good, evenly

matched fight. Miller tagged him with a right hand to start things off, then took Freeman down where he

worked his ground & pound. Freeman reversed him and Miller screwed up an arm bar attempt. Miller took

control again with a take-down, throwing punches to end the round. The crowd was loving the action. In the

second round, after some punches, Miller took him down again. At this point, a ring light blew out with a

small amount of sparks coming down. Miller tried an ankle lock but just left himself open to taking some

good punches. They had a great stand-up exchange to end the round. At the beginning of the third round,

Freeman hit Miller with a devastating kick to the face and it was almost the end but Miller survived and

controlled the rest of the round. A great fight.

Fight 3 - 155 lb. Bout

James Fletcher wins by first round knockout over Johnathan Wood

Fletcher, 152lbs, took his announced record to 5-1 with a first round knockout over the 154 lb Pittsburg, KS

fighter Johnathan Wood who is now 1-2. Wood came into this fight sporting a Mohawk which is different as

he had long hair the last time he fought. Fletcher tried a front kick to start but ended up on the mat in top

position. He then got the arm bar in a quick move. Some of the audience around me said they heard

something pop in the arm of Wood but I heard nothing and Wood didn't act as if he were injured.

Fight 4 - 185 lb. Bout

Tony Key wins by TKO (strikes) at 2:13 of the second round over Kyle Cargil

Local Webb City boy (as in just down the street) Tony Key, 185 lbs., beat the 182 lbs. Kyle Cargil of

Cimmeron Jiu Jitsu in Cushing, Oklahoma. The Cushing team had many fighters on the card but they were

no match for the gigantic cheering section of Key. Key co-won the fighter of the night award with Russel

Crandon. Key looked stronger as he manhandled his opponent to the ground. Nothing really happened

because Key had a headlock for a long time. Cargil tried to fight out of it, even making it to his feet once.

The second round saw a bloody Cargil lose as the referee stepped in to stop it at 2:13 due to strikes. A very

strong bout.

Fight 5 - Heavyweight Bout

Donald Bell wins by submission (kimura) at 2:03 of the first round over Larry Jarrett

The big Donald Bell took his record to 2-0 with the first round Kimura over the late replacement fighter Larry

Jarrett (265 lbs). Bell had Jarrett on the ground in mere seconds, then threw punches to the body. Bell took

side control and landed big knees to the side of Jarrett. The kimura came into play to get the win as Jarrett

was unable to mount any form of offense.

Fight 6 - Light Heavyweight Bout

Drew Reed wins by submission at :34 of the first round over Landon Jones

Drew "the Animal" Reed lived up to his nickname by defeating the debuting Landon Jones who was from NY,

NY in 34 seconds of the first round by tap out. Reed is now on a two fight win streak with a record of 2-5 and

weighed in at 165 lbs while Jones was 175 lbs. The crowd loved this from the start as Reed had this maniac

look to him. Jones went down from a leg kick and Reed put on the guillotine choke. Jones tried to slam out

of it but it was over. A good quick bout as Reed may not have a pretty record but is very entertaining.

Fight 7 - 205 lb. Bout

Matt Gentry wins by TKO (strikes) at :44 of the first round over John Reed

The 205 lb. Cushing, Oklahoma fighter Matt Gentry took his announced record to 3-0 with a quick 44 second

first round referee stoppage due to strikes over 220 lb. Kansas City fighter John Reed, who is now 1-2.

Gentry landed two kicks and some knees to start things out, then he knocked Reed to the ground with a

huge punch. It was huge as Reed almost went through the cage (he didn't but did bend part of it), falling back

from the punch. The end came shortly after as Reed was taking to many shots to let it go any further. Gentry

looked really good here.

Fight 8 - 185 lb. Bout

Chuck Rainey wins by third round submission (strikes) over Josh Bowen

Gracie Barra JJ fighter Chuck Rainey went to 4-2 with a third round tap out due to strikes with seconds to

spare over the very game Cushing, Oklahoma fighter Josh Bowen who is now 2-2. Rainey was a huge favorite

as Springfield is only an hour away. This was the most evenly matched fight of the night. Almost too evenly

matched. Rainey powered him against the fence trying to take Bowen down. On the ground, the fight stalled

as Rainey tried his best to land blows from the top. The second round started after a feel out process with

Rainey bullying him against the fence again. Not much happened until Rainey got Bowen to the ground

again. In the third and last round, the fight just started out the same but Bowen landed an awesome face

kick that almost won him the match. It didn't stop Rainey as he landed a more punches as the fight ended

when Bowen tapped out with seconds left.

Fight 9 - Light Heavyweight Bout

Sydney Bruen wins by submission (strikes) at 1:10 of the second round over Josh McClure

Sydney Bruen picked up his first win, now 1-1, with a second round tap out over the now 1-1 freestyle fighter

Josh McClure. McClure was the crowd favorite in this bout, coming in weighing 192 lbs. as Bruen weighed

202 lbs.. McClure slammed Bruen and took mount, then got his back but Bruen was able to scramble out.

Bruen was able to get a standing guillotine but let it go. They threw wildly for a bit before hitting the ground.

When the action stalled, the referee stood them back up to end the round. The second became a wild stand

up bout driving the audience into a frenzy. Both were getting hit with good shots. Bruen won the match after

rocking McClure with a big punch and following it up with a barrage of blows. A great fight.

Fight 10 - Super Heavyweight Bout

Bill Burton wins by knockout at :05 of the first round over Creighton Davenport

The 328 lb. Bill Burton took his record to 1-1 with a five second knockout against the 279 lb. Creighton

Davenport of Illinois. Here is the whole fight - they touched gloves, then Burton nailed his opponent and it

was over. The five second knockout is the new record for the fastest KO in Cage Of Honor history. The

crowd loved this very short fight.

Fight 11 - 169 lb. Bout

Brad Sawyer wins a majority decision over Ben Douley

Gracie Barra fighter Brad Sawyer moved his record to 2-1-1 with a majority decision win over the now

2-1 (announced record) Ben Douley of Cushing, Oklahoma. Both fighters were in tremendous shape and

fought hard the entire three rounds. They started out on fire with both swinging for the fences. The fight

slowed as Sawyer had Douley against the fence working knees while holding the arms of his opponent.

Douley was able to spin out - ending the round. In the second, they exchanged punches with Douley getting

the better of it before Sawyer pushed him against the cage and slammed him to the mat. They got to their

feet with both looking tired but still swinging. The third round saw both men looking a little tired, causing a

lack of action. Sawyer used his strong legs to hold down Douley until the end of the bout.

Fight 12 - Heavyweight Bout

Hank Douley wins by knockout at 1:28 of the first round over Norvin Tinnon

Douley beat the 252 lb. fighter Norvin Tinnon with a first round KO. Douley was fighting out of the Cushing,

Oklahoma fight camp and is an impressive looking guy. He is around 6' 6" and has a large muscular frame

while Tinnon looked his weight. They both came out looking for the home run punch. Tinnon got in some

good blows before hitting the ground. Douley landed a huge knee that KO'd Tinnon. Tinnon laid on the mat

for a while but was Okay. This was an awesome slugfest while it lasted.

Fight 13 - 185 lb. Bout

Russell Crandon wins by submission (triangle choke) at 2:22 of the third round over Jeremiah Haynes

This was the fight of the night and a # 1 contenders match  - with the winner getting the next title shot.

Russell Crandon took his announced record to 5-1 with a third round tap out due to triangle in 2:22 over the

Cushing, Oklahoma fighter Jeremiah Haynes who is now an announced 4-1. Crandon is a Gracie Barra

fighter but we didn't see much Jiu-Jitsu until the end as this was mainly a stand-up battle of evenly matched

fighters. Crandon worked kicks while Haynes was landing punches. Haynes was winning the battle, landing

the better shots as Crandon continued landing great kicks. Haynes caught a kick - taking the fight to the

ground to end a exciting first round. In the second round, Crandon work his great leg kicks again until he

caught Haynes in a flurry of punches until Haynes escaped. On the ground, Haynes gained control until they

stood back up. The third round was more of this awesome stand-up battle. Haynes was controlling the

ground fight when Candon slapped on a triangle from the bottom to end the fight. This was one of the best

fights I have ever seen at Cage Of Honor. This fight had the fans in an uproar as Crandon had many fans

coming in but Haynes stole some of those fans with his fighting skill.

Fight 14 - Main Event: Featherweight Title Bout (145 lbs)

Jacob Ritchie vs. Jay Gould ended in a no-contest

The fight between the 140 lb, 3-0 Gracie Barra fighter Jacob Ritchie and 4-1 wrestler Jay Gould of Minnesota

was declared a first round no contest as Ritchie took a finger to the eye in the opening seconds and the

ringside doctor stopped the fight. It was a shame that one of the best Cage Of Honor shows to date ended

this way but it was no ones fault.
