Jose Luis Zertuche (16-2-2, 13 KOs) wins by eighth round TKO over Jesus Gonzales (17-1, 10 KOs)

 

Super Lightweight Bout (6 Rds)

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (22-0, 17 KOs) wins by second round TKO over Cory Alarcon (12-11, 4 KOs)

 

Super Lightweight Bout (6 Rds)

Mike Alvarado (11-0, 9 KOs) wins a unanimous decision over Arturo Brambilla (8-4, 4 KOs) - Judges

scored the bout 59-55, 59-55, 60-54 for Alvarado

 

Welterweight Bout (10 Rds)

Grover Wiley (30-6-1, 14 KOs) wins by fifth round TKO over Julio Cesar Chavez (107-6-2, 88 KOs) -

Chavez's corner stopped the bout between the fifth and sixth round because of a broken right hand suffered

by Chavez.


In the post-fight interview, Julio Cesar Chavez stated that he didn't feel well - He said that he didn't want to

fight anymore but that if they want him to fight in San Antonio, then he'll fight in San Antonio - but that his

health comes first - he has to think about it. He also stated that he is happy that his son won. Bob Arum

stated that he would match Grover Wiley with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on his November's Heavyweight card

in Las Vegas. Bob Arum also stated that in his recommendation,  this should be Julio Cesar Chavez's last

bout.
