Lightweight Bout (10 Rds) Rolando Reyes (31-4-2, 20 KOs) wins by TKO at 2:17 of the 5th rd over Julio Diaz (36-5, 26 KOs) In the fifth round, Diaz stunned with a right and finally went down from a left uppercut (up right away)...the fight resumed and Reyes pounced on Diaz....Diaz in trying to get away was taking some big shots and
finally went down from a left and
the ref quickly waved the fight over. Vicente Escobedo (20-1, 12 KOs) wins a unanimous decision over Carlos Hernandez (43-8-1, 24 KOs) - Judges scored the bout 96-91, 94-93, 95-91 for Escobedo. At the end of the first round, Hernandez downed with a right (up right away). In the second round, Hernandez downed to a knee with a right (up right away). In the sixth round, Hernandez went down from having his left foot stepped on but the ref called it a knockdown as Escobedo was throwing a right at the time.
Lightweight Bout (10 Rds) Michael Katsidis (25-2, 21 KOs) wins by TKO at the end of the 7th rd over Jesus Chavez (44-5, 30 KOs) Chavez could not continue.
WBC Lightweight Title Bout - vacant (12 Rds) Edwin Valero (25-0, 25 KOs) wins by TKO at :49 of the 2nd round over Antonio Pitalua (46-4, 40 KOs) In the second round, Pitalua down with a short right hook...Pitalua got up and the fight resumed and Valero pounced on him....downing him again from an accumulation of punches....the fight resumed and Valero pounced on him again and the ref stepped in and stopped the bout as Pitalua was going down again from an
accumulation of punches. Valero
wins title.
