Here we go again!
This years Best of the West is finally here!
After many delays due to scheduling conflicts with other grappling events we thought we finally found the perfect date. As it turns out there is still a scheduling conflict with a few other events but with them throwing events every weekend and us changing the date 3x to accommodate them we have to move forward with this date.
The good news is that the Best of the West is finally here and after years of requests we have finally added BJJ Gi divisions on Saturday!
Even better news is that you wont have to spend your hot summer weekend in a sweaty high school gymnasium with nothing to do while waiting hours for your division to be called. Instead you will be in the spacious Air Conditioned Anaheim Convention Center in the middle of the International MMA Expo full of vendors, raffles, free givaways, MMA cage fights, Sumo Wrestling competition, USA Wrestling Event, Fighter autograph signings and the list goes on!
We know the event schedule is tight and we apologize for any complications for you and your team in choosing the event to compete at. We have our Best of the West one time annually and we work diligently to respect all other promotions and their established events on the calendar. We are in hopes that you and your team will choose to support our event as we continually reach out and support all other events as well as all the academies.
With the stress of the tough times what better way to build team camaraderie and relieve the stress by training hard and jumping into a tournament to let it all go!
Best of the West will be awarding 1st through 6th Place Team trophies for both the BJJ and the No-Gi Submission Grappling days.
Championship Belts will be awarded to ALL Open weight Divisions, All Advanced Division, Black Belt Divisions, Brown Belt Divisions, Childrens Advanced Open Divisions (Broken down by 25 lb and 3 year age spread), and Womens Advanced Divisions.
1st-4th Place Medals high quality casted medals for ALL divisions and all Youth divisions under 12 years old receive participation medallions.
OTM Fight Shops is providing FREE Board Shorts to all No-Gi OPEN division Winners
OTM Fight Shops is providing a FREE OTM Gi to ALL BJJ OPEN Weight division winners.
OTM Fight Shops is providing 2 FREE OTM Gis, 5 pair of OTM Board Shorts, 15 T-Shirts, 3 pair of Boxing Gloves, and 5 pair of MMA Gloves for the Competitor raffle being held at the event both days!

Throughout the past decade, the prestigious WGG events have attracted the top submission experts in the world. Grappling legends such as Marc Laimon, Dean Lister, Leozinho Vieira, Margarida, Alberto Crane, and Cassio Werneck. The next generation of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Ryron Gracie and Ralek Gracie. The new breed of American jiu-jitsu stars in Rafael Lovato Jr., Scott Bieri, Sim Go, Jeff Glover, Bill Cooper, Baret Yoshida, Nam Phan, Rick Macauley, Mike Fowler, and Ryan Hall. UFC superstars like B.J. Penn, Tony DeSouza, Diego Sanchez, Keith Jardine, Jeff Monson, and Ricco Rodriguez. Top female grapplers like Gazzy Parman, Leka Vieira, and Nori Avellan. Even the OnTheMat.com's very own Scotty Nelson and Danny Do Nothing have competed 'On The Mat' at various WGG events.
Now the next generation of grapplers will test their skills and look to establish their names in the same manner as their predecessors at one of WGG's flagship events, the "Best of the West". Just as its name suggests, it will serve to determine exactly whom the best no-gi submission grapplers are in southern California, which is the Mecca to jiu-jitsu and submission grappling in this country. The event will host divisions for competitors of every skill level in children, teen, women, men, and executive divisions. There will also be open weight (absolute) divisions held at the conclusion of all weight classes in that division. This will give every competitor, coach, and spectator the opportunity to gain a complete grappling experience in a safe, fun, inexpensive, and competitive atmosphere. So rest up, train hard, and we'll see on the mats at the "Best of the West"
The International MMA Expo known as IMMAE presents IMMAE Supershow 2010. IMMAE is Americas' original MMA Expo. IMMAE features top athletes and sports figures and the products and services they use to train and live. IMMAE Supershow 2010 will feature the 1st ever ICSO International Combat Sports Open which features Combat competitions in up to 10 different combat styles from Sumo to Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling to MMA. IMMAE will also host INBA & PNBA competitions, demonstrations from local gyms and athletes not to mention our world famous modeling competitions.
