"Double Cross"

August 2, 2002

FIGHT 1
David Ortiz vs. Kelly Wayne Johnson

Round 1 - David takes Kelly down pretty quick, corners him on the edge of the cage and begins to throw

punches at Kelly's face landing a few good ones. The ref stops the fight 1 min 10 sec of the 1st round.

(Good call Cecile). WINNER DAVID ORTIZ

FIGHT 2

Brian Warren vs. Louie Vaith
Round 1 - Vaith throws a front round house to the mid-section, Warren catches the foot and takes him

down and to the edge of the ring. Vaith from his back attempts a triangle but Warren escapes. The ref

stands them back up on their feet, Warren gets the better exchange so Vaith takes him down this time. On

the ground,  both show good skills attempting and escaping many submissions. Warren pulling away and

standing up with Vaith still on his back, Warren does a front roll, kicking Vaith with his heels to end the

round.

Round 2 - They go to the ground after a small exchange on top, Warren landing on top unable to do much,

the ref stands them back up. The rest of the round went the same way. WINNER BRIAN WARREN BY

UNANIMOUS DECISION

FIGHT 3

Thomas "Wildman" Denny vs. Jeff Lindsey
Round 1 - They clinch and struggle to the ground. On the ground they both attempt different submissions

through out the round. Denny almost catching Lindsey in a couple of things.

Round 2 - Goes the same as the 1st round, it seemed Denny had just a little more control and more

submission attempts. WINNER THOMAS DENNY BY  UNANIMOUS DECISION

After his win Denny backstage told me that he felt dehydrated and couldn't do shit out there. It's too  F'N

hot.

FIGHT 4

Brian Hawkins vs. Todd Medina
Round
1 - Hawkins attempts a high shoot, Medina stops him and applies a guillotine choke which seemed

like forever so Medina gives up on the choke, shoves Hawkins back, releasing the choke and delivering a

right hand to the face, then Hawkins delivers a right of his own so Medina goes for the take down. Hawkins

counters and ends up on top, delivers a couple of strikes opening a cut above the right eye of Medina. Ref

stops the fight to check the eye. The doctor also checks the eye and stops the fight. WINNER BRIAN

HAWKINS BY TKO. (REF STOPPAGE DUE TO CUT ABOVE EYE)

Backstage Medina told me that he wasn't training for a fight. That he got the call last night around 11pm

(and) that he probably shouldn't of been out there but that he loves this sport and he will try to do anything

he can to help out. The Spirit of a true warrior.

FIGHT 5

Shonie Carter vs. Randy Valarde
They both play the stand-up game for a while, finally Valarde takes Carter down, delivers a few strikes but

Carter gets back up. Valarde connects with a round house kick to Carter's head , Carter partially blocks it,

they clinch, Cater getting behind Valarde, he suplexes Valarde, Valarde turns onto his stomach, Carter

climbs on top of  Valarde's back and puts his hooks in applying a kind of Mata Lion, Valarde has no choice

but to tap. WINNER SHONIE CARTER BY TAP DUE TO CHOKE

FIGHT 6

Christian Welsh vs. Sam Sotello
They both exchange blows right from the bell, Sotello gets the best of the exchange, Welsh takes him down

and ends up on the full mount, he begins to deliver a lot of punches to the face, Sotello has no choice but to

tap. WINNER CHRISTIAN WELSH

FIGHT 7 - KOTC Middleweight World Title Bout

Dean Lister vs. Brendan Seguin
Both come out with lots of energy. Seguin connecting with some punches, Lister wants no part of the

stand-up game, so he tries to take Seguin down, Seguin does a great job defending the take down but

eventually he does go down.  The fight goes the same way for 2 rounds but toward the end of the 3rd round,

Lister fighting from his back, manages to catch Seguin with a triangle/arm bar and makes him tap. WINNER

DEAN LISTER

FIGHT 8 - KOTC Lightweight World Title Bout

Javier Vazquez vs. David Gardner
Both are cautious as they come out, Gardner goes for a
single leg, Vazquez counters and gets the back.

While on the back, he delivers some elbows to the back of Gardner's head, the ref sees that and stops the

fight. A small cut opened up on Gardner, the doctor checks him and lets him continue. A point is deducted

from Vasquez. Both come out for the kill, Vasquez connecting with some punches but Gardner returns the

favor, punching his way through Vasquez and landing on top, punching down on Vazquez every time he

attempted a submission. Vazquez went for a knee bar and Gardner wasn't able to get out of it and with the

amount of pressure Vasquez was applying, Gardner had to tap. WINNER JAVIER VASQUEZ

FIGHT 9 - KOTC Light Heavyweight World Title Bout

Vernon "Tiger" White vs.  Mike Rogers
Both come out very cautious, Rodgers goes for a
single leg, White defends the take down but while still in

the clinch, Rodgers takes him down, he tries to ground and pound but White gives him no part of that game.

Every time White ends up on his back, he is able to tie him up, not allowing Rogers to do anything. White

was able to stand back up and in the process, delivered some punches. 1st and 2nd rounds were the same

but in the 3rd round, White came out strong, connecting with more punches and kicks until Rodgers was

able to take him down again. While on the floor, White attempted more submissions and pulled out a split

decision over Rodgers. WINNER VERNON WHITE

Both came out swinging heavy leather. Ambriz connecting with a right, sending Bobish to the floor and he

followed him to the floor and mounts him. Bobish was unable to get him off. Ambriz connected numerous

punches to Bobish's face. Finally the ref stops the fight. WINNER JIMMY AMBRIZ  BY TKO (REF
