Showtime was forced to cancel its original line-up for this date when both Jr. welterweight champion Kostya

Tszyu and heavyweight James "Lights Out" Toney came down with injuries. Now, Showtime has released

a new bout for this date - former WBA world Jr. welterweight champion Sharmba Mitchell (who was

originally scheduled to fight Tszyu for the title) will take on the IBF # 4 ranked Omar Weis.

Mitchell, ranked # 1 by the IBF, had his last bout in May of 2003 when he defeated Ben Tackie by 12 round

unanimous decision in an IBF title eliminator. Mitchell lost his WBA title to Tszyu back in 2001 by seventh

round TKO. Mitchell injured his left knee and was unable to continue in the eighth. Since his loss to Tszyu,

Mitchell has won five straight (four by decision, one by TKO).

Weis may best be remembered as the man who handed Hector Camacho Jr. (36-1, 20 KO's) his first loss

via 10 round unanimous decision back in March of 2002. Since that fight, Weis has fought only three times.

A 10 round unanimous decision win over Arturo Urena (18-7-1, 14 KO's) in April of  2002, a 10 round

unanimous decision loss to Zab Judah (30-1, 22 KO's) in July of 2002 and a 10 round unanimous decision

win over Emanuel Augustus (27-22-5, 13 KO's) in February of 2003.
