Roufus vs. Tyson ?

Roufus, nicked named "The Jet," retired after his unanimous decision win over Jeff Ford at K-1 “Battle at the

Bellagio” on August 15th (2003) in Las Vegas, Nevada. But as we all know, retirement is just code for

vacation. This would be a legitimate match-up for Tyson.  Roufus has ring experience with some of the best

fighters in K-1.  Both are talented fighters and arguments can be made for both sides. Tyson has stated in

the past that he doesn't want to get kick in the head so you can, at least on paper, figure that he'll want to

fight on the inside to keep the kicks away. Roufus will probably want to establish his kicks to keep Tyson

from the inside. The questions becomes, who lands first?

Well, one of our friends had an opinion and it went like this:

Rd 1 - Both come out and Roufus starts by kicking to the legs of Tyson. Tyson tries to close the gap but

Roufus circles avoiding Tyson. Roufus goes for a high kick that lands on the arms of Tyson. No damage but

Tyson begins to get a little frustrated so he comes at Roufus and corners him and they clinch - Ref breaks

them up and Tyson comes in again and backs Roufus to the ropes - Roufus holds on so Tyson can't do

anything - ref breaks them up - Tyson tries to come in but takes a couple of more leg shots - Tyson looks to

be favoring a leg - Both circle as the round ends

Rd 2 - Tyson legs look a little swollen - Both come out and Roufus goes for more leg kicks. Tyson bulls his

way onto Roufus and backs him into a corner - Roufus trying to hold on - Tyson starts to work the body -

Roufus smothers Tyson and both fall down - ref starts them in center of the ring - Roufus fakes a low kick

and comes up high  - Hits Tyson right on the side of the face - Tyson is hurt - Roufus comes in for the kill

walks right into a wild right from Tyson and goes down - Both are wobbly - Both are up - Roufus kicks to the

legs again - Tyson is wobbling - Roufus goes high and slips - Tyson tries to hit Roufus while he's down - Bell

rings - Ref trying to separate them - order restored

Rd 3 - Roufus looks the fresher of the two - Both come out and Roufus quickly goes to the kicks - Tyson's in

trouble - he's favoring a leg - Roufus closes the gap and nails Tyson with a jab - Roufus steps back and

launches a high kick - Tyson's down - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - Tyson's up - Roufus comes in and peppers Tyson

with kicks - no one showed Tyson how to block a leg kick - Tyson goes down - he's grabbing his leg - 6 - 7 -

8 - 9  - he's up  - they're checking him out in the corner - Doc says okay - Roufus picking his shots - One

more leg kick should do it - And there it is - Down goes Tyson - It's over - Tyson can't walk - Roufus wins by

third round knockout from kicks.

We wouldn't be shocked if the fight went this way or any other way. With these two warriors, this fight has

many possibilities. If you disagree, send us an e-mail with your version. We'd like to hear what you think.
