Pride Grand Prix 2003 Update

Pride has announced the heavyweight bouts which are to take place on August 10, 2003 on the "Total

Elimination 2003" card.

First up is Mirko "Cro Crop" Filipovic vs. Igor Vovchanchyn. Filipovic is coming off an impressive win

over Heath Herring at Pride 26 this past June. Vovchanchyn hasn't fought in Pride for almost a year. He'll be

looking to make a statement since his loss to Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at Pride 22.

Next we have "Big Daddy" Gary Goodridge vs. Fedor Emelianeko.  Goodridge is another fighter who

hasn't fought in Pride in almost a year. His last fight in Pride was a win over Lloyd Van Dams at Pride

Shockwave last August, 2002. Emelianeko almost seems unstoppable. He's coming off a submission win

over Fujita at Pride 26 this past June.

Lastly, we have Ricco Rodriquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.  Rodriquez is coming off a TKO loss to

Tim Sylvia at UFC 41. The former UFC heavyweight champ will be looking to redeem himself against the

former Pride heavyweight champion.  Nogueira is coming off a tough unanimous decision loss to Fedor

Emelianeko at Pride 25 this past March. Expect Nogueira to come out and try to impress in order to get a

rematch with Emelianeko and regain his title.
