Fight 1 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)

Heath Herring wins by knockout at 4:43 of the first round over Yoshiki Takahashi  

 

They both come out, Heath shoots a front kick and then a round-house - Takahashi calls time-out,

something in his eye - Heath a kick to the mid-section - Heath another kick - Takahashi lands a punch to the

face of Heath - Heath using his kicks with power - Heath throws a high kick but Takahashi blocks - They go

down, Takahashi in the north\south position on top delivering knees to Heath's head - Takahashi throwing

kicks and punches but Heath is blocking them - Heath gets up and goes for a double leg - Heath gets him

down - Takahashi has a guillotine choke but with a hand inside - Heath pulls out - Heath is in Takahashi's full

guard - Heath throws punches but misses with some of them - Takahashi doing a good job avoiding the head

punches - Heath now going to the body and head and his shots are landing - Heath just punching away at

Takahashi's body and face in the full guard - Heath landing numerous lefts on Takahashi's face from the

guard - Heath lands four hammerfists to Takahashi's face and Takahashi is out - ref stops the bout - Herring

wins by knockout - Takahashi's left eye is all swollen

 

 

Fight 2 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)

Sergei Kharitonov wins by knockout at 4:14 of the first round over Murilo “Ninja” Rua  

 

They both come out,  touch gloves - Ninja tries a left hand - both trying to trade blows - Ninja lands a left -

Sergei lands a left - Ninja lands a straight left and tries for a takedown - Sergei  lands a Judo throw and

Ninja tries for a heel hook - Sergei gets half-guard - both back up - Both of the fighters are trading blows -

Sergei lands a shot to the mid-section - Sergei  bleeding form the nose - both fighters slow down a little -

trying to read each other - Sergei landing a couple of jabs - Ninja throwing some Thai kicks to the thigh -

Sergei counters - Sergei trying to work his jabs - Ninja looking a little tried - Sergei  landing a straight right  -

now going to the body and the face - Sergei lands a straight right , then another straight right and Ninja was

going down when Sergei lands a hooking left and puts Ninja down for good. The ref steps in and stop the

bout.

 

 

Fight 3 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)

“Giant” Silva wins by submission (key lock) at 4:04 of the first round over Henry “Sentoryu” Miller

 

Both come out - just circling each other - Miller charges in and goes for a single leg - Silva grabs around -

Miller still has the single leg - Silva holding on and goes for a guillotine choke but Miller gets him down -

Miller is in Silva's open guard - Silva lands a couple of punches and goes to a close guard - Miller lands a

couple of body shots - Silva lands a couple of shots to the face - Miller lands a couple of shots to the body - 

Miller landing single to the body of Silva - Miller passes and goes to side mount - Silva goes for a key lock

from being in the side mount - both stuck in that position - Miller now shifting his weight for Silva to get the

key lock - Silva is able to pull the arm up - Miller taps from a key lock (kimura) - Silva is on his back with

Miller in a full side mount, from his back Silva is able to reach over and secure the key lock and pull it up

until Miller taps.

 

 

Fight 4 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)  

Semmy Schilt wins by submission (arm bar) at 5:02 of the first round over Gan McGee

 

Both come out, Schilt starts to jab - McGee goes for a double leg and take Schilt down - McGee

gets side mount - Schilt goes for a reverse triangle but McGee gets out of it - McGee gets the full

mount - McGee sits up and throws a few strikes  Schilt is able to block most of them - McGee just

sitting on Schilt - Schilt brings him down to his body - Schilt delivers a few hammerfists from

the bottom - McGee bleeding from the nose - McGee goes for a key lock but Schilt just pulls away - McGee

tries to deliver small rabbit punches to Schilt but Schilt just holds his hands - Schilt able to land a couple

more hammerfists to McGee's face - McGee going for an Americana - Schilt pulls out - Schilt has the open

guard on McGee - Schilt sweeps McGee and almost lands a soccer kick from a sitting position - McGee

goes for a heel hook and Schilt pulls forward and lands on top of McGee and right away goes for an arm bar

and sinks it in and McGee taps.

 

 

Fight 5 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)

Naoya Ogawa wins by submission (choke) at 1:34 of the first round over Stefan Leko

 

Ogawa comes in wearing a T-shirt that says "I'm Chicken" - Good stare down - Both come out, Leko starts

to deliver kicks to the inside thigh of Ogawa - Ogawa lands a punch that staggers Leko - Ogawa trying to

finish him - Leko goes down and Ogawa gets the full mount - Leko pulls away - Ogawa gets the side mount

and keeps Leko down - Ogawa again gets the full mount and tries a hand and shoulder triangle choke while

on top of Leko and he sinks it in and Leko taps.

 

 

Fight 6 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)

Kevin Randleman wins by knockout at 1:34 of the first round over Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic  

 

Chuck Liddell, Ron Waterman and Wes Simms in Randleman's corner - Randleman comes right at "Cro

Cop" pushing him against the ropes - Randleman has double hooks underneath and "Cro Cop" trying to pull

away - Randleman just has "Cro Cop" in the corner of the ring - holding him - Ref breaks them apart -

Randleman circling "Cro Cop" - Randleman goes for a take down and "Cro Cop" pulls away - Randleman

lands a left hook that sends "Cro Cop" down - "Cro Cop" tries to pull guard right away but Randleman throws

hammerfists \ forearms that knockout "Cro Cop" on the floor. Randleman winner by knockout.

 

 

Fight 7 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira  wins by submission (choke) at 1:25 of the second round over Hirotaka Yokoi 

 

Both come to center of the ring - Yokoi comes in with the left - they tie up - both clinch - Nog delivers a knee

to the body - still clinched - Nog delivers another knee - Nog takes Yokoi down and lands in the side mount -

Nog landing some soft punches to the head of Yokoi - Nog still in the side mount - Nog looking for a way to

mount Yokoi - Nog delvers a couple of shots to Yokoi - Yokoi pulled out and stood up right away - Yokoi

amost lands a knee to Nog's face  - They clinch again - Yokoi does a Judo throw to Nog and gets Nog down

and lands a hammerfist to the face of Nog - Nog brings Yokoi down to his open guard - Both exchanging

punches from the ground - Yokoi taunts Nog to hit him - Nog goes for an arm bar to a knee bar but Yokoi

pulls away and stands up - Nog pulls Yokoi down and Nog gets the side mount - Nog goes for the full

mount but Yokoi turns him around and delivers a couple of shots to Nog's face - Yokoi then stands up

leaving Nog on his back - Yokoi comes in at Nog but Nog pulls him back into his guard - Nog delivers some

heel kicks to Yokoi's face - going back and forth - Yokoi one again stands up - Yokoi delivers a couple of

kicks to the thigh of Nog from the standing position. Nog again goes for a knee bar but Yokoi just pulls

away - Nog trips Yokoi but Yokoi just stands right back up - Both are standing - Both fighters exchanging

punches - neither of them really landing - Nog pressing the fight - Nog lands a couple of punches - Nog

lands a good right - Yokoi lands a good right - Nog showing his boxing skills - Nog lands a straight left - Nog

almost lands a knee but Yokoi pulls back and misses it - Nog goes for two guillotines but Yokoi is able to

get out of both of them. Yokoi is upset s something because he slams his hand to the floor.

 

Second round - Yokoi looks tired - Both come to the center of the ring and touch gloves - Yokoi sweeps Nog

and takes him down but Nog is able top get right back up - Nog using and landing his Jab - Nog lands a right

- Nog lands a knee - Yokoi shoots, Nog sprawls - Nog goes for a triangle choke with his arms from the

north, south position with a half-roll. Yokoi taps. Yokoi is full of emotion as he walks out - both fighters did

very well.

 

 

Fight 8 - Heavyweight Tournament Bout (Opening Round)

Fedor Emelianenko wins by submission (arm bar) at 2:11 of the first round over Mark Coleman  

 

Both come out, both throwing jabs - Coleman takes Fedor down - Coleman is in the half-guard - Coleman is

in the full guard - Fedor tries to pull out - Coleman has his back - Coleman working for a rear naked choke -

Fedor keeps his chin down - Coleman lands three good shots - Fedor pulls away and Fedor goes for a

guillotine choke - Coleman gets out of it - Coleman tries to slam Fedor - Fedore pulls away - Coleman still

gets Fedor down - Coleman lands in Fedor's open guard - Fedor from his guard, goes for the arm bar and

turns over and around Coleman's arm for the arm bar with his face and body facing the mat and makes

Coleman tap.  Fedor goes over and talks to Coleman - Coleman upset with himself but raises Fedor's arm in

victory.

 

 

NOTES:

- Yuki Kondo will face Vanderlei Silva at PRIDE Bushido III on May 23rd (2004)

-  K-1 former champion Mark Hunt announced he will be fighting for PRIDE

- Sakuraba stated he will be fighting in June
