Trinidad - King - Ruiz - Byrd - Boxer Attacked

 

 

Trinidad - It's Official

Boxer Felix "Tito" Trinidad (41-1, 34 KO's) has made it official and stated on Tuesday (3/2/04) that he will

come out of retirement. According to Fox Sports, they state that promoter Don King has said a fight is set

with ("Sugar" Shane) Mosley, provided Mosley wins his March 13th bout with "Winky" Wright.

 

 

Don King - Ruiz, Byrd

In a press conference held in New York on Tuesday, promoter Don King announced that WBA heavyweight

champion John Ruiz (39-5-1, 27 KO's) will face Fres Oquendo (24-2, 15 KO's), and IBF heavyweight

champion Chris Byrd (37-2, 20 KO's) will take on Andrew "Balls" Golota (38-4, 31 KO's) on April 17th at

the Madison Square Garden. Also scheduled to fight on the card will be WBA welterweight champion Jose

Antonio Rivera (37-3-1, 24 KO's) against former welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga (26-40-1, 23

KO's).  WBA cruiserweight champion Jean-Marc Mormeck (29-2, 21 KO's) will face former champ Virgil

Hill (49-4, 24 KO's) in a rematch. And rounding out the card will be WBC cruiserweight champion Wayne

Braithwaite (20-0, 17 KO's) going up against Louis Azille (18-2-2, 15 KO's). It will be shown on HBO

Pay-Per-View.

 

 

Boxer Attacked

The AP is reporting that newly crowned WBU welterweight champion Eamonn Magee (25-4, 16 KO's) was

injured on Sunday night near when he was attacked by a gang with pickax

handles. His injuries include a possible broken leg and punctured lung. Magee was listed in stable condition

on Tuesday. No motive has been established.
