Kudos to WBC - "Russian Invasion"

Boxing

Here's a nice article with a happy ending to pass along. Former WBA and WBC super featherweight

champion Genaro Hernandez (38-2-1, 17 KO's) had been suffering from double vision since his loss to

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (31-0, 21 KO's) in October of ' 98. In that bout (which was his last), Hernandez was

TKO'd in the eighth and lost his WBC title to Mayweather. Well, when the WBC found out about the double

vision, they quickly took action and directed him to a doctor and Hernandez subsequently was operated on

and his vision was repaired. You can read the thank you letters from Hernandez here (you will need adobe

acrobat). We wish the champ the best and our hats are off to the WBC for taking care of their fighters.

Russian Invasion

Mix-Fighting championship had some interesting points of view concerning the "Russian Invasion" event that

took place this past Saturday night in New Jersey. Their views were stated respectfully and we've broken it

down into three areas: 1) the Americans used illegal techniques that were not penalized, 2) the Americans

came in heavier than what they weighed in at, and 3) biased judging. The Russians filed appeals for the

Bogdanov, Goliaev, Zentsov, and Semenov fights. The bottom line is that they feel that the outcome of the

event should be a joint-team draw (four wins each plus a draw).  To read the whole story, click here.
