HBO Boxing: Mayweather vs. N'Dou

November 1, 2003

Van Andel Arena - 6:30pm  PT
Grand Rapids, MI

Undefeated former WBC super featherweight champion and current WBC lightweight champion Floyd

Mayweather Jr. puts his title on the line for the fourth time against once beaten Phillip N'dou

N'dou's only loss came early in his career by way of TKO but since then, he has won 21 in a row, 20 by

knock out.

Mayweather successfully defended his WBC super featherweight title nine times before moving up to

lightweight. He won the lightweight title back in April of 2002 with a unanimous decision win over then

champion Jose Luis Castillo (48-6-1, 44 KO's).

On the undercard, Roy Jones. Jr.'s good friend Derrick Gainer will put his WBA featherweight title on the

line against the IBF featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez.

One of Marquez's losses came at the hands of Freddie Norwood (38-1-1, 22 KO's) back in 1999 by way of

a 12 round unanimous decision for the WBA featherweight title. Norwood went on to fight and lose a

controversial 11th round TKO to Gainer back in 2000 in what can best be described as the battle of the low

blows.
