KOTC Fight of the Night

Last October 19th (2002) was King of the Cage - where everyone witnessed the first women's fight in one of

the premiere Mixed Martial Art events in the U.S.. The Fan's couldn't wait to see this fight - Not only because

it's the first women's fight at KOTC but mainly because both of these women knew how to fight. Debi

Purcell is considered to be one of the top female fighters around.

She trains with  "King of the Streets" Marcos Ruas who was also in her corner. She took on Nicole

Albright who is also a great fighter with many fights under her belt. The way this fight developed has set a

very high standard for up and coming fighters for both women and men. These two fighters went to war from

the beginning of the first round to the end of the fight. Let me tell all you skeptics who thought women

couldn't put on a show like the men...

You were wrong.

These two women put on one of the best fights of the night...Correction - The Best Fight Of The Night.

Both came to win. Purcell had incredible stand up technique - delivering rights and lefts followed by Thai

kicks. Albright was able to take the hits and deliver her own straight right which caught Purcell more than a

few times. The fight could have gone either way but Purcell was connecting a bit more than Albright. The fight

went that way till the end. Both fighters where exhausted.

But when they were announcing the winner, Debi Purcell, Albright was jumping and cheering for her.

What sportsmanship!

A classy performance for both fighters. We look forward to seeing more bouts like this.

Talk to you after the fights,

Al
