IBF Jr. Middleweight Title Bout (12 Rds) Ronald Wright (46-3, 25 KO's) wins a unanimous decision over Angel Hernandez (26-5, 16 KO's) - Judges scored the bout 119-109, 118-110, 117-111 for Wright - Wright retains his IBF title
WBC / IBF Light Heavyweight Title Bout (12 Rds) Roy Jones Jr. (49-1, 38 KO's) wins a majority decision over Antonio Tarver (21-2, 17 KO's) - Judges scored the bout 114-114, 117-111, 116-112 for Jones Jr.. Jones Jr. regains his WBC and IBF light heavyweight titles - crowd booing (yelling bullshit)
Rd 1 - Both to the center of the ring - not much action - Tarver starts to jab - Jones to the body - Jones glances a shot of Tarver's head - crowd starting to boo - Tarver lands left to head, two shots to the body - Jones counters, end of round
Rd 2 - Both come out, Tarver goes to body, Jones covers up and blocks - Tarver lands a right to Jones, no damage - Jones goes back to the body, Tarver counters to the body, then lands two more punches - Tarver bangs to the body, Jones covers up, round ends
Rd 3 - Tarver comes out jabbing, looks very confident - Tarver misses a couple of jabs - Jones looks to be measuring Tarver - not much action - Jones starting to counter the jab more, going to the body - Jones lands left to head of Tarver - no damage - Tarver drives Jones to the ropes and lands to shots, no damage, round ends
Rd 4 - Tarver comes out jabbing, Jones looks to the body - crowd starting to boo again - Jones doesn't look like he's in any hurry to do anything - Jones lands straight right hand - lands two more shots - Tarver not throwing his jab like he was - Jones up against the ropes, Tarver comes in to bang - Jones counters, end of round
Rd 5 - Tarver pawing the jab - Jones lands to body - lull in action - Tarver looks hesitant - Jones snaps a jab, both just circling - round ends
Rd 6 - Tarver comes out throwing punches but Jones blocks - crowd getting restless - Jones backs into a corner - Tarver goes to the body - Jones counters - Jones lands shot to Tarver's head - no damage - Tarver throwing shots, Jones just covers - Jones lands right hand that looks to have stunned Tarver, round ends
Rd 7 - Jones looks to play the Ali rope-a-dope in the middle of the ring - He just covers up and lets Tarver hit him - no damage - Jones looks to be tiring a little, opening his mouth to breathe - Jones lands right to chin of Tarver - no damage - Jones picking up action a bit as round ends
Rd 8 - Tarver comes out pawing the jab - Tarver goes to the body of Jones - Jones jabbing with the left - Looks like he's trying to set up the right hand - crowd getting restless again - Tarver goes to the body but Jones covers and blocks most - Jones left eye looks to be swelling a bit - Jones goes to the corner and covers, Tarver comes in to bang, round ends
Trainer tells Jones to stop going to the corner and covering up
Rd 9 - Jones comes out jabbing - both just circling - Jones comes in with a combo - no damage - Jones jabs with the left - Tarver fainting with the left - Jones comes in to bang to the body of Tarver - Tarver counters - Jones looks off his game - round ends
Rd 10 - Jones comes out throwing the right - Tarver just backs away - Tarver lands a straight left - Jones just covers - Jones looks tired - Tarver pops the right jab - Tarver lands a couple of punches, Jones just covers up and backs into a corner - round ends
Rd 11 - Tarver comes out jabbing - Jones eye is swollen - Jones pawing with the left trying to set up the right - Jones letting his hands go - Tarver backing up - Tarver tries to counter by jabbing - Tape off of Tarver's glove - break - Jones back to pawing with left and snapping the right - Tarver pawing with right , backing up, round ends
Rd 12 - Jones bouncing , pops the left jab - Tarver lands a left, backs Jones to the ropes - Jones looked stunned for a minute - Jones counters - Lands left - Jones trying to land the overhand right - Jones throwing the left jab - Tarver not doing much - round ends
NOTES: Jones said taking off 25 lbs. affected him. He said he was very tired in the late rounds. Jones said Tarver had a good punch but never hurt him. Also said Tarver flurried last 30 seconds to steal a round but said you have to fight the complete 3 minutes to win a round, not just the last 30 seconds. Jones gave good props to Tarver for a good fight. Jones said that if his next fight isn't against Tyson, he is done.
Tarver said he is disappointed. Says he won the fight. Tarver says he is the peoples champion. Also said he carried the fight.
