Manny Pacquiao (38-2-1, 30 KO's) wins by TKO (corner stoppage) at 2:56 of the 11th round over Marco

Antonio Barrera (57-4, 40 KO's) 

 

RD 1

Both come out - Pac throws a punch and Barrera goes to the body - Pacquiao goes down - received an

eight count - didn't look hurt - might have been a slip - Barrera back to the body - Pac comes back with a

right - Pac landing jabs - Barrera tries to counter with his own jab - Pac looks like he's trying to load up 

- round ends 

 

RD 2

Both come out - Pac looking to work the jab - Barrera working his jab to keep Pac at bay - Pac lands a left

and then a combo - no damage - Barrera lands combo - Pac comes back to the body - round ends

 

RD 3

Both come out - both working the jab - Barrera goes down from a left - gets back up - Pac looking to end the

fight - Barrera counters - Pac throwing lefts - Barrera looks stunned but fighting back - Action slows - round

ends

 

RD 4

Both come out - both circling - both working the jabs - Pac throwing combos but not landing - Pac much

quicker than Barrera - Barrera lands upper cut - no damage - Both trading punches as round ends - Swelling

on Barrera's left eye

 

RD 5

Both come out - both circling - Pac the more aggressive fighter - both working the jabs again - Pac lands

right, then left - no damage - Pac looking to come straight down the middle - Barrera looks sluggish -

Barrera lands right - no damage - round ends

 

RD 6 

Both come out - working the jabs - Barrera looks to the body - Pac goes to the body - Barrera lands a right -

Pac looked stunned for a moment - Pac comes back with a body shot - Both trade punches - Barrera

looking to get better of the exchange - Pac goes to the body - Barrera goes down - ruled a slip - round over

 

RD 7

Both come out - Pac working the left jab - Barrera looks to go to the body - Pac throwing combos - Barrera

is cut on the left eye - ruled accidental head butt - stop in bout - Fight continues - Barrera looks

uncomfortable - Pac on the offensive - Barrera looks to counter - clinch - Barrera stuns Pac - Pac against

ropes - clinch - Barrera looks like he head butted Pac on purpose - warned - round ends 

 

RD 8 

Both come out - Barrera still looks uncomfortable - Barrera goes to the body - Pac counters - Pac works

right jab, follows with left - Pac out punching Barrera - Barrera looking to land upper cut - action slows a little

- Barrera lands right, left, uppercut - no damage - round ends

 

RD 9 - 

Both come out - touch gloves - Barrera tries to back up Pac - Pac lands punches - Barrera counters - Pac

throwing punches to score points - Barrera gets a point taken away - head butt or hitting after break -

Barrera looks frustrated - Pac throwing out the left jab - Pac the busier fighter - round ends

 

RD 10 

Both come out - Pac goes back to his game plan - Throwing a lot of punches (more to score than knock

out) - Barrera looks like he just wants to survive - action slows - Pac throwing the jab -  Pac looks the

fresher of the two -round ends

 

RD 11

Pac picks up where he left off - working the jab - Pac landing rights - no damage - Pac basically landing at

will when he wants - Barrera gets standing eight count - Barrera looks tired - Pac comes in for the kill -

Barrera's cornerman comes onto the ring - stops bout - Fight over - Pac wins by TKO

 

Notes (Interview with Larry Merchant):

- Barrera said he was ill prepared for the fight - a lot of distractions

Barrera said Pacquiao hits hard 

Barrera said he couldn't see well out of his eye, he said he wasn't concentrating on the fight

He feels bad about his performance - will talk with Oscar De La Hoya (promoter of this fight) about a

rematch (in the contract)

Asked if he was to retire - he said he needs to talk it over with his people and with De La Hoya

 

- Pacquiao said he could control the fight but sounded like he was surprised that he was able to stop

Barrera. 

Pacquiao said he would give Barrera a rematch

Pacquiao gave a humble interview
