Ruiz vs. Oquendo

Byrd vs. Golota

April 17, 2004

Madison Square Garden

New York, New York

The fight card had a change when Ricardo Mayorga ended up facing Eric Mitchell in a 10 round bout

instead of his original opponent, WBA welterweight champion Jose Antonio Rivera, because Mayorga

didn't make weight. The fight card itself was...okay...not the best action we've ever seen but it really wasn't

the worse either. Of note, Mitchell did a decent job coming in on such short notice and Golota made a good

accounting of himself. Byrd and Ruiz were...the Byrd and Ruiz of old as expected.
