FCFN 4
April 16, 2005 South Parade Pier Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK Doors open 5.30pm - Fights Start 7:30pm
Special Thanks go out to Ian Dean and Cagewarriors.com for the following information:
Easter Sunday 2004 saw the birth of a UK MMA phenomenon as the Southsea Pier in Portsmouth, England played host to Full Contact Fight Night, which was the brainchild of the top British Sambo stylist Darrin Richardson and the UK’s top Referee Grant Waterman, as they joined forces and launched their own promotion into a packed UK market.
Originally promoted as a small event featuring a mix of amateur, semi-pro and professional MMA bouts, alongside their own UK-1 kickboxing matches. Full Contact Fight Night surprised everyone by delivering a quality night of combat sports action which was topped off with a 30 minute Brazilian superfight which had UK fans talking about for months.
Since then, FCFN has evolved at lightening speed and is easily the South Coast's most exciting Combat Sports show. Attracting a large crowd, FCFN also attracts promoters and scouts from UK events such as Cagewarriors and Cage Rage meaning that FCFN is now seen as a solid starting point to the top as well as being a hub for local fans and fighters.
This event is also famous for having an amazing atmosphere which starts at the pre-fight weigh-ins inside the trendy Portsmouth nightclub “Bar Bluu” which is a great meeting point for UK MMA fans who can socialize with the crew in attendance before they experience the powerful and intense atmosphere inside the pier once the first bell rings.
A growing testament to the success of FCFN is the fact that the card for this supposed “small” show now features 11 solid bouts featuring nine professional MMA and UK-1 match-ups. Highlights of this show include…
Andy Walker fighting in his 3rd bout in three weeks against the Londoner Danny Fletcher who was defeated by Cage Rage British Welterweight Champion Paul Jenkins at FCFN 3. Also on the card is the return of the heavyweight Adam Woolmer as he takes on Mark Buchanon and there are also five members of the Elite Fighting System team from South London who will be looking to upset the local fighters, whilst
bringing with them 200 loud
and passionate fans who will rock the South Sea Pier once more. Dean Bray vs. 'Gipsy' John O'Mally
