South Parade Pier - 7pm

Portsmouth, Hampshire, England

No frills, No bling and No bull.

Just a night of quality mixed fight action to please any full contact fight fan.

With less than 2 weeks to go until Full Contact Fight Night 2 in Portsmouth, it looks like it’s going to be

another sell out. Extra VIP tables have had to be arranged due to high demand and tickets are now moving

very fast. Amazingly enough, after only one event, everyone has heard about Full Contact Fight Night. Maybe

it was the mix of fight styles or the great matchmaking giving everyone something exciting to watch.  Or was

it that legendary all Brazilian Superfight between Alex DeSouza and Roberto Atalla? Who knows, but with

a fight card that looks to be just as explosive, who is going to want to miss this next installment on

August 14th. Here’s what’s in store.

Fight 1 - Semi-Pro MMA

Mark Mitchard vs. John O’Mally

Mitchard from The Cage Gym takes on first timer O’Mally from the Northern Cartel.  Will Mark’s Ju Jitsu

skills be enough to overcome the competent striker from the Northern Cartel?

Jordan Miller in mount

Fight 2 - Semi-Pro MMA

Ashley Webb vs. Jordan Miller

The stocky and explosive Ashley ‘Blanka’ Webb looks to improve on a disappointing effort at FCFN 1,

against the talented 17 year old Jordan Miller.  Miller from Andy Walkers’ Poole Jiu Jitsu, is well versed in

all ranges and had a comfortable points win at FCFN 1 against Graham Cooke.  However this time he steps

up to semi-pro rules against a pumped Ashley Webb, who passed out at FCFN due to a triangle choke by

Jose Ribes.

However, since then, Webb impressed at Full Impact 3 where he fought to a draw (in a fight with no judges)

when he overpowered his opponent with a mix of powerful slams and impressive ground and pound.

However, will this be enough to counter the number of constant submission attempts that Miller can perform?

Speaking to Webb this week he said that “I’m going win this time as my nerves were shrugged off at my last

event (in June)” and that “This time we play by my rules.”  He also revealed that he has also worked on his

submission defense as he thinks that Miller is a good fighter and better than Ribes who he fought at FCFN 1.

Paul Clarke (left) vs. Paul Daley

Fight 3 - Kickboxing bout (Rules similar to K-1)

Paul Clarke vs. Ben McGrath

At FCFN 1, Paul Clarke had the unenviable task of stepping in at the 11th hour to take on Paul Daley in a

kickboxing match with rules similar to K-1.  To his credit, Clarke put in a better performance than many

expected against Daley who has been in red hot form.  Although Clarke succumbed to a 2nd round

stoppage, he showed a lot of resilience and lasted longer than most of Daley’s opponents have this year.

This time Clarke takes on Ben McGrath who comes from a Tae Kwon Do background, who in the true sprit of

mixed fighting will test his skills against the popular Pomepy native, who will have a packed house cheering

him on in what with be an interesting clash of stand-up fighting styles.

Fight 4 - Pro MMA

Dean Emmerson vs. Chris Freebourn

Dean Emmerson fights for the first time under the Northern Cartel banner at FCFN 2. Speaking to Ian Butlin

(MMA Featherweight contender and the Assistant manager of the Northern Cartel/Team Quannum

(http://www.quannumfitness.co.uk) he said that he has been training with Emmerson and that “Dean has had

one fight, June 12th last year on Shotai Kai, (when) he had the unfortunate task of facing James Doolan in

his debut and is the only man to last the full distance with him. He has trained with the Cartel now for 3

months and is improving all the time”

Chris Freebourn, despite his age, is a veteran of the UK scene and is known not to turn down a fight.  At

FCFN he stepped in to fight on an amateur bout before his main pro bout.  Although he lost both times his

sprit remains unquestionable and he bounced back at Cage Rage 6 to win via a slick triangle choke after

withstanding a fierce striking onslaught early in round 1.

So will the Sambo trained fighter from the Cage Gym break his FCFN duck or will Emmerson live up to his

promise and beat Freebourn in the same way his trainer Ian Butlin did in Portsmouth last year

Fight 5

Lee Curtis vs. Matty Hoil

The deceptive looking Lee Curtis is up against Elite fighter Matty Hoil. The Elite guys from South London are

always entertaining both in and out of the ring and always bring a lot of support.  However this time they will

be in Curtis’ cauldron and with his home fans cheering him on, will his superior ground game lead him to

victory?

Fight 6

Neil Hughes vs. Bruce Dickerson

After recently training in the USA with Chris Brennan, Neil Hughes is keen to test himself. He’s up against

Bruce Dickerson from Rob Evans camp. All of Robs guys are aggressive and don’t seem to feel pain. Both

fighters look very strong but we’ll see who has the stronger heart.

Fight 7 - Pro MMA

Brian Adams vs. Deckland Long

Adams is coming off a first round win on the August 1st, in Wales and looked very composed for a novice

fighter. This time he’s up against another aggressive Elite trained opponent.  However Adam is eager to

make it 2-0, however the Elite guys are good on their feet and like a war.

Speaking to Adams over the weekend he said that although he doesn’t know anything about his opponent

apart from it’s his pro debut.  Adams also said how he is looking for more of the same, to land the same

amount of strikes that he did against Jamie Weaver in Wales and take his record to 2-0.

So will Adams the local hero make it 2-0 in front of his home fans or with the Elite fighter from London ruin

the homecoming party?  Regardless of the result with the amount of people there to cheer Adams on the

atmosphere should be electric.

Fight 8 - Above the waist Kickboxing

Craig Copland vs. TBA

Copland kicked off the kickboxing at FCFN on Easter Sunday with a high tempo war that got the crowd

going.  He’ll be looking to do it again and go 2-0 at FCFN.

Fight 9 - Kickboxing Bout (Rules similar to K-1)

Dave “B-52” Butlin vs. Glen Sherd

One of the main attractions of FCFN is the much anticipated kickboxing debut of Dave “B-52” Butlin.

Although Dave has never boxed officially (unlike his brothers Ian and Andy who were both successful

amateur ABA stars) he is still a formidable power puncher and has been punishing his sparring partners on

the lead up to this event.

Speaking to Dave earlier this week (about his opponent) he said that “I know he’s a Thai boxer, I’ve been told

he’s a tough lad. So I’ve been preparing for 3 tough rounds.”  Butlin then went on to say that “I’m excited

about doing a stand up fight as its my first one ever…I’m gonna try to use as much skill as possible and try

not to rush in like a novice”

Speaking again to his brother Ian Butlin (the Assistant manager of the Northern Cartel/Team Quannum) he

said “I have endured 6 weeks of torture helping Dave prepare for his striking debut, I am very confident in his

ability and look forward to Saturday night”

His Opponent, Thai boxer Glen Sherd from Gosport, will no doubt be relishing this clash of style and will be

looking to show how effective Muay Thai is in the circus of stand-up that is kickboxing.  Can Glen avoid the

bombs and use his Muay Thai experience to shoot down the B-52 Bomber or will the much hyped Quannum

fighter’s power be too much.

Carla O'Sullivan in Action

Fight 10 - Pro MMA
Carla 'Fe-Machine' O'Sullivan
vs. Cherie Buck

After a convincing points win at FCFN in her BNMA kickboxing title bout, the multi dimensional ‘Fe-Machine’

turns her attention back to MMA, where she has 1 victory already this year when she stopped Ruth

Darbyshire at Cage rage 5 by armbar.

Buck from the Roughouse gym has also fought pro-MMA after fighting to a draw with Nadia Van Der Wel at

Ultimate combat 9 and Buck also holds a win in grapple and strike too.  Buck is also has a background in

Muay Thai and also has an experienced team behind her, in the Rough House Gym from Gloucester.

Both women are tough and like to strike, and with the Women’s scene wide open in the UK, they will both

want to show why they are two of the UK’s finest female fighters.

Paul Daley in action

Fight 11 - Kickboxing Bout (Rules similar to K-1)

Paul “Semtex” Daley vs. Jason Howell

The explosive Paul “Semtex” Daley has lived up to his name and is upbeat in 2004 in both MMA and

kickboxing fights, knocking out all comers with his signature left hook.  Daley who was featured on Sky

Sports knocking out the 6' 5'' French Xavier Foupa Pokam in MMA competition will be looking for another

KO which will bring his FCFN record to 2-0 after his win on the 1st event over Paul Clarke.

However, Jason Howell is out to bring the “Semtex” express train down with a bang.  Howell’s coach Rob

Evans has stated that he has a job controlling Jason when they spar, but will Daley’s left hook might do it for

him.  So who will win this big clash?

Fight 12 - Main Event - Pro MMA

Paul ‘Hands of Stone’ Jenkins vs. Dan Hardy

The vastly experienced Paul Jenkins has already had 11 MMA contests this year, with 2 fights already this

month, one of which was a trip into Germany.  A solid Striker with good ground defense and underrated

submission skills.  Jenkins is always good value for money and a stern test for any MMA fighter, who has

took on some of the very best in the UK Scene.  He is also the current Cage Rage Welterweight Champion

after beating Ronaldo Campos by TKO.

Dan Hardy from the Roughhouse Gym, on the other hand is fairly new to MMA.  Nevertheless he impressed

on his debut against the Tsunami Gym’s Lee Doski in a very entertaining see-saw battle, in which Hardy

succumbed to a rear naked choke very late in round 2.

However Hardy is back and wants to show the UK scene why he’s worthy of a FCFN main event slot. Hardy

who is primarily a striker, showed effective stand-up (both boxing and Muay Thai) on his debut and troubled

Doski standing on numerous occasions.

This has all the ingredients of a stand-up war which will no doubt send the lively Portsmouth crowd wild.  So

will the experience of Jenkins pay off, or will his exhaustive schedule and the power and exuberance of Hardy

be enough to take the win, in what promises to be an exciting main event by the sea.
