Special Thanks go out to Ian Dean and Cagewarriors.com for the following article:

Two more title fights announced for “Xtreme Xmas” as the end of year finale gathers pace.

As well as holding the huge CWFC Heavyweight Title match-up between the defending CWFC Champion

Tengiz Tedoradze (13-2-0) and 3 time UFC vet and world class grappler Jeff Monson (10-5-0) at

Cagewarriors 9: Xtreme Xmas, on the 18th December in Sheffield England.  Two other fights have also been

announced that will add to the special nature of this end of year show.

However, there has been some breaking news in the UK MMA scene as of Sunday, November 14th,

Tengiz Tedoradze fought at the Cagefighting Championships 2 event in Liverpool, where he defeated the BJJ

specialist Marc “The Shark” Goddard in round 2 of their encounter. This now extends Tengiz’s unbeaten

streak to 12 fights.  So will Tengiz make it lucky 13 as the former 2 time Greco-Roman World Champion

attempts to stop Jeff Monson from ending his 2 year win streak on the December 18th supercard in

Sheffield?

Dave Roche at EB3

This other latest update concerns the announcement of two more CWFC title fights in the Lightweight and

Welterweight divisions respectively.  As the CWFC owner/promoter Mr. Dougie Truman is pleased to

announce that Cagewarriors 9: Xtreme Xmas will feature the following exciting match-ups, as Dave “The

Big Bad Wolf” Roche (2-0-0) takes on the American Gerald “The Finishing Machine” Strebendt (8-5-0)

for the Vacant Lightweight Title in the first of our newly announced title match-ups.

Abdul Mohamed

And in the other newly announced title fight, Abdul Mohamed (5-2-1) will defend his CWFC Welterweight

Title against Paul “Semtex” Daley (4-2-0).  Both of these title bouts have been eagerly awaited by UK fans

for some time and have a lot of international interest which will keep MMA fans around the world talking.

Gerald Strebendt

CWFC Lightweight Title Match

The much anticipated (and delayed) CWFC Lightweight Title clash between the Irishman Dave “The Big Bad

Wolf” Roche (2-0-0) and the ever popular American Gerald “The Finishing Machine” Strebendt will finally take

place at the Sheffield Octagon Centre on December 18th.  Both men were due to square off at Cagewarriors

8: Brutal Force in September, however Dave Roche did not get doctor’s clearance to fight following a car

crash in July which forced the cancellation of the fight.

Both men won eliminators in under a minute at Cagewarriors 7 in May, with Strebendt winning via the now

infamous “Twister” submission (Which was the first time it had been used in MMA competition) against the

UK veteran and BJJ Purple Belt Dave “Speedy” Elliot.  Whilst Roche advanced after beating tough Geordie

Gavin Bradley with a guillotine choke.

Both men met at Brutal Force for an interview inside the CWFC 32ft titanium octagon, in which both men

stated their claim to the title, however the UK scene’s most closely guarded secret told his American

opponent that unlike many of his opponents he can grapple and strike and that Strebendt will not be able to

handle the two.  However, at Cagewarriors 9: Xtreme Xmas we will find out as this long running saga will

finally come to an end.

Paul Daley

CWFC Welterweight Title Match

The 3rd announced title fight of the night was also originally scheduled for Cagewarriors 8, as the “Team

Freeman” star Abdul Mohamed (5-2-1) makes the 1st defence of his CWFC Welterweight title against the

explosive Paul “Semtex” Daley.  Mohamed burst onto the scene back in 2003 dominating experienced

veterans such as Andy Cooper and Paul Jenkins with a devastating array of wrestling takedowns and

brutal ground and pound and is unbeaten in CWFC action.

Since winning the CWFC Welterweight Title in the main event of Cagewarriors 6 against Paul Jenkins, Abdul

has suffered defeats at other events but has now refocused and is now under the tutorage of Ian “The

Machine” Freeman and will be looking to show why he was one of the most feared men in the

Welterweight division and successfully defend his CWFC title belt come December 18th.

Mohamed's opponent is the young UK powerhouse Paul “Semtex” Daley (4-2-0 in MMA / 6-0 UK1/CK-1 rules

kickboxing).  Daley is one of the UK’s rising stars and hails from the Roughouse Gym in Nottingham, UK.

Daley is famous for his explosive left hook and stand-up skills which have seen him finish both MMA and

Kickboxing bouts by KO.

Daley last featured in the main event of Cagewarriors 8: Brutal Force in September, where he had a stunning

2nd round KO win over the Cage Rage Welterweight Champion Paul “Hands of Stone” Jenkins.  Daley floored

the wily Welshman 3 times during the fight and neutralised Jenkins’ takedown and stand-up skills with a mix

of slick boxing moves and vastly improved anti-grappling techniques before finishing him off with his

trademark left hook which ended the fight in devastating fashion.

Since his win at Cagewarriors 8, Daley has been out in the United States where he has been training for over

a month with the American Top Team in Florida, where he has vastly improved his game in anticipation for

this title bout and also managed to secure himself a 1 year deal with the WEF in the USA (for more info go

to http://www.cagewarriors.com/page.asp?ID=500)

So will the challenger continue his fine run of form that has seen him go undefeated since December 21st

2003 with 9 straight wins in MMA/Kickboxing competition (Including 2 wins over Lithuanian Muay Thai

Champions and a Cage Kickboxing win over Hayden Scott at Extreme Brawl who is currently 8th in the

ISKA rankings)?  Or will the power based wrestling game of the Champion neutralise Daley’s stand-up skills

in what should be an awesome striker vs. grappler confrontation for the CWFC Welterweight Title.

So stayed logged-on to cagewarrors.com and enjoy an Xtreme Xmas with us this December as the

Cagewarriors Fighting Championships invades the Sheffield Octagon Centre once again this December 18th.
